Norton Dominator 99 Racer Classic Vintage 647cc Tuned Engine Featherbed Frame

This Norton Dominator Racer was owned. built. and raced by two brothers from the midlands. one being the financer. builder and mechanic and the other being the rider. the first picture shows the bike near to completion prior to being raced. it was raced with some moderate success for approx. ten years. since then it has been stood unused in a heated garage for approx. twelve years. it will need work before being used again. although the engine still turns okay and with compression. there is a V5 showing the frame number and listed as a Norton 500cc. it is shown as registered 1970. I don't understand this as the frame and engine are earlier. during its time in hibernation some bits have been 'borrowed' by the brothers to try on their other Norton. these now have been put back. but only loosely. parts of the rear brake and the battery. are missing. other small parts may be missing too. hence the bike is being sold as a project. but what a desirable one. if you're not into racing. imagine this as the ultimate café racer.

These details are given in good faith. as told to me by one of the brothers who I bought the bike off. I have no way of knowing them to be correct. although I believe the bike was competitive. I have been shown his photo album of the bikes racing history. (he won't part with it) but I have seen it.

Norton wideline featherbed frame with bronze bushed swinging arm. Manx style tank and central oil tank both in alloy. alloy top yoke and engine plates. electronic ignition (Boyer Brandsen) and rev counter (Hemmings) both rims alloy. racing linings in front brake. Engine '99' modified with 650 crank. now 647cc. 2s or 3s cams (he can't remember which) H. C. compression pistons 10. 25 to 1 (he thinks). head gas flowed. lightened/polished rockers. crank lightened. balanced and polished. gear box with reversed cam plate. so. still one up and three down.

First raced Easter 1993 at Mallory Park. also raced at. Mallory Cadwell. Darley Moor. Silverstore and Three Sisters. last raced 2003

I have just been advised that the engine number displayed on the crankcase denotes the engine as a model 88 which was a 500cc engine. the frame however is a model 99. the engine mods stated in the listing are exactly as they were stated to me and the previous owner put them in writing. as it says in the listing. I cannot be sure what exactly has been done.
