Description
1953 BSA D1 Bantam 125cc. sweet runner V5C
Here is a very good opportunity to own one of the most fondly remembered and universally owned British bikes : a nice early rigid D1 Bantam in excellent running order and very tidy cosmetic condition.
This little D1 starts easily and sounds great. It ticks over nicely and runs rides very well. Good gears & clutch. decent brakes and working D-shaped Smith's speedo.
Lighting is working OK and the charging system is OK.
The bike comes with V5C registration. OVS 704 (cannot be transferred to another vehicle). Declared manufacture 1953. Eligible for Historic vehicle Class free road tax & pre-60 MOT exempt. Frame number is YD1 20996. engine number is BDB 960.
Cosmetically the bike is in very good tidy condition. Not freshly restored or concours just a tidy old bike!
The enamel on the frame is generally excellent and of a high quality. There are however a few marks here & there & some signs of ageing. The tank is generally good but the pin-stripes are fading in places. Rims are both Dunlops with excellent enamel. Seat is sound but old looking. Exhaust system is excellent.
Front tyre is very good Avon ribbed item. rear is a Bridgestone block tread type.
there is no fin damage on the cylinder barrel and I think none on the head either although some fins on the head may be very slightly chipped it's hard to tell.
All in all this a lovely little Bantam. an ideal learner legal “starter classic”.
Don't miss this famous little BSA!
