Description
Here for sale is my BMW R1200 GS Adventure. first registered in November 2012. It has done 16700miles. When I bought it. it had done 7800 miles. I bought it from Triumph North East in June 2014 and spent 4 weeks adding extra's before embarking on a tour of Europe.
Before me. I was told that it was owned by a long-term customer of Triumph North East and had been spec'd by them with BMW when bought new. The previous owner did not want ABS and so this bike does not have ABS (a bonus in my opinion).
I am not sure of the official BMW packages (premium. dynamic??) that this bike has. but I do know it has ESA 2 and an onboard computer. which is toggled through using the “info” button on the left handle bar. From memory the features that come up on the instruments when this button is pressed are: mpg. ambient air temp. average speed. fuel range etc.
From Dynojet I fitted a Power Commander 5. Auto Tune AT-300 and a map switch (fitted to the left handlebar). The reason for doing so was because I anticipated owning this bike for many years. and know that it is possible to make the engine run more efficiently with this set up. I have obtained average combined mpg of 63 on the tour. which is a marked improvement on the stock setup. (The bikes are mapped lean by BMW to pass EU regs'. which makes them consume more fuel). Please note. the custom map I use for the bike (supplied by Dynojet uk. and gradually tweaked during the tour) has been tuned for mpg and not performance.
The bike has a full aftermarket exhaust system – Remus headers and Mivv silencer. The exhaust flap actuator has been removed in favour of a Wunderlich connection pipe in order to increase gas flow efficiency. I'm an engineer by trade and all of these mods have been done to improve efficiency and not performance (although this will obviously improve depending on the fuel map used)
The Auto Tune kit enables the fuel map to be trimmed on the road. It measures the exhaust gas air/fuel ratio. and adjusts the map to current conditions (this does actually make a difference if you are travelling from very cold to very hot countries) Basically it saves having to have the bike dyno'd as it adjusts the map whilst on a ride. The map switch fitted to the handlebar is set to toggle between…….
Off position: mpg base map (supplied by dynojet and gradually improved during tour)
On position: Autotune activated and trimming to required air/fuel ratio's in current riding atmospheric conditions.
I will be happy to explain things a bit more accurately to the buyer.
The bike is in fantastic condition. It has not missed a beat. It has a full service history. I have had it service once. - in Bucharest. by a BMW specialist (not a BMW dealership) I have receipts from the service and the service book is fully stamped and up to date.
The following is a list of all the extras I have added in anticipation of owning it for a fair few years. The prices stated are what I paid. In some cases you will find them cheaper now and in some. more expensive.

The Garmin Zumo 660 has the latest European maps installed. Before I hand over the bike I will plug it in online to get the latest maps from my yearly subscription.
The left hand cylinder head cover/guard has some small scratches where I let the bike fall onto me when dismounting on a stone driveway. Nothing major. and to my eyes difficult to notice. but worth mentioning. I have tried to get a decent picture to show the size of the scratch.
There are a couple of minor dings and scratches on the luggage. commensurate with being used on a tour. but nothing major and still I excellent condition in my opinion. I have tried to take pictures that accurately reflect the condition on the bike and luggage.
The tires have approximately 3000 miles on them and are in good shape.
What you see in the pictures and in the above extra's list is what you will get when buying the bike. The original exhaust system and brake and clutch levers are included in the sale.
I am currently using the bike in the Belgium/Holland region and so will return to the UK to do the deal. As such I am unable to show the bike to prospective buyers. I have taken extensive Photo's and will be happy to supply extra detail pictures to those who are genuinely interested. If you are interested in buying the bike please email me at r1200gsasale@gmail. com.
I anticipate the bike's mileage at sale to be around 17 – 17. 5k miles.
Please be assured that this is an R1200 GSA in fantastic condition. with no faults and full history. Personally speaking. I do not ride my bikes hard. preferring to treat them well and keep them in excellent condition.
I will require cash on collection or bank transfer payment.
