Description
This is one of the handful of official replicas of the iconic Lambretta scooter ridden by actor Phil Daniels in the cult motion picture ' Quaddrophenia '. Released in 1979. the film follows Daniels charactor Jimmy. a young working class 'MOD'. Quadrophenia famously dramatised the 1964 Whitsun bank holiday violent clash between the Mods and their Rocker enemies in Brighton. an event that recently celebrated its 50th anniversary.
The 'Jimmy' replicas were used to promote ' Quadrophenia ' when the DVD version was re-released. They were authorised by the film company and made by recognised scooter-building specialist David John Wyburn using the original Lambretta Series 3 models dating from circa 1966. This one is numbered '2' on the bodywork and comes with a certificate from the film production company signed by story consultant Alan Fletcher. We are advised that others in the series are owned by The Who and Liam Gallagher.
First registered in the UK in 2003. this Lambretta has been painted in the correct colour scheme and carries the film version's registration 'KRU 251' on the front mudguard. Other noteworthy features include 'Southend shild badges. Wassell Lambretta badge. Stadium mirrors. Vigen Red Gem fork covers. fly screen complete with stickers. outrigger exhaust and original Ken Cobbing air horns canister and Ken cobbing seat - all shared with the films original. We are advised that the tyres are genuine 1970s items no longer fit for road use. thus this Lambretta is sold for display purposes only. Im sure it wouldnt take to much to put back on the road.
Starts. runs and rides well. Superb condition throughout. One for the collectors ! Happy to p/x or maybe swap WHY.
