Seller notes: The HRD Series B Rapide
This beautifully restored 1948 Vincent Series B Rapide (F10AB/1/492) was added to my collection of motorcycles during the spring of 2003.
The HRD Series B Rapide, in my opinion, is the most attractive Vincent produced...with the artful Brampton front forks and the imposing 8" headlamp (offered only on 1947 and 1948 models), it is easily distinguished from later model Vincents.
The year before I purchased this Vincent, it had won "Best of Show" at the 2002 Vincent Owners Club International Rally in Kerrville, Texas.
It was restored by respected Vincent rebuilder Ernesto Morales. Ernestos restorations have consistently taken top honors at various VOC rallies throughtout the world.
The bike was judged by officers of the VOC in the UK. I received an email from one of them, Vince Ferrall, attesting to the quality of this restoration.
In 2004, my wife and I rode this Vincent 550 miles... two-up, while attending the 3-day North American Vincent Owners Club Rally in Deer Lodge Montana. The bike performed well and was a joy to ride. It has been ridden sparingly since...having participated in a few Lone Star VOC chapter gatherings in the Texas Hill Country.
The mileage shown, 3637 is since restoration. I purchased this bike on May 27, 2003 with 1079 miles recorded.
This Vincent is in pristine shape and condition. It has been meticulously maintained and stored with care. It starts readily and runs flawlessly.
The engine number F10AB/1/492 is on the works records as being part of a Rapide that went to Triad Motors in Wellsburg, West Virginia in February 1948.
I have made numerous improvements over the years, some are subtle others noteable. My objective: cosmetically appealing, improved reliability and good handling.
The engine is fited with custom fabricated stainless steel intake manifolds and brand new modified Amal 930 Concentric carbuertors vs the original fitted Amal 276 side float...resulting in significantly improved starting, road performance and reliability
I also fitted a step-on center stand, spiral wound silencer, large extended seat and SS crash bar.
It is ready to be ridden or shown with confidence.
