Description
Ladies and gentlemen, be upstanding for the one, the only heavyweight champion of the world... King of the Hyperbikes. The original Gen 1 unrestricted Hayabusa 1300.
OK, so that is, to a great extent due to the 'gentlemen's agreement, that came in around 2001, limiting top speed to a pedestrian 186 MPH and the last 25 years have seen many more powerful and agile machines emerge, bur the fact remains that a quarter of a century later the Hayabusa retains the laurels for being the, fastest main stream motorcycle ever made and is considered by many to be the final successor to a long line of iconic speed machines, Brough. Superior, Vincent Black Shadow and the Laverda Jota readily spring to mind...
As a result prices for good examples are firming up well for, low mileage, good condition original examples. This one is one of them and represents a rock solid investment. Why am I not keeping it you ask? Quite honestly I have run out of room. I still have the exact same 99 'Busa that I bought new in early 2000 and another 8 'bikes. We have just sold the place we had in Portugal and I have a further 2 'bikes to bring back from there soon, so sadly something has to go. I know I will regret it in the future.
With less than 10,000 fully documented miles, in almost completely standard original condition, a comprehensive folder of service receipts and a fully stamped up service history the provenance is faultless. I say 'Almost completely standard' because it has benefited from a couple of desirable upgrades in the form of a full set of braided brake hoses and a rear hugger. All the temptations of adding the usual rat have been avoided.
As you would expect given the all round condition and It rides like new. Age hasn't done anything to dull the extraordinary experience that it offers. I have had the privilege of owning and riding all the Hyperbikes, ZZR1100, Blackbird, ZX12R, ZZR1400. I my estimation the 'Busa is on its own in terms of the way it makes it's power. It's so easy to live with and being long and low means it handles so much better than something with so much stature should do. Yes, it's looks have divided opinion in the past, but I think the years have been kind to the unique design. It just looks so dammed purposeful, especially the first generation. That purpose being to go very, very fast and it does that better than any other production machine ever made.
Anyway, enough of my blather. If you have read this far you will undoubtedly appreciate what these 'bikes are about. I can assure you that this particular one won't disappoint. It is exactly what I have represented it to be. An immaculate, low mileage, unsullied example of one of the best motorcycles of all time in the best colours and with all right bits, toolkit, original speed hump, documented service history, provenance.
Thanks for looking.
I have had a couple of enquiries in relation to the service history which I have included in the photographs, but for the sake of clarity it has a full service history with 7 stamps in the book:-
1) 3/03/00 - initial service at Knots of Reddich (who originally supplied the 'bike).
2) 07/02/01 at 4,788 miles - Superbikes, Cleveleys, Lancs
3) 28/11/06 at 7,795 miles - Rocket Centre, Blackburn
4) 15/03/10 at 8,500 miles - Fastline Superbikes, Preston
5) 06/05/12 at 9,200 miles - Fastline Superbikes, Preston
6) 20/08/19 at 9,436 miles - Fastline Superbikes, Preston
7) 26/10/19 at 9,519 miles - The Superbike Surgery, Dursley.
The bike is currently showing 9781 miles, so has done only 262 miles since the last service.
If you are looking for one of these, particularly the original 1999 GSX 1300 R X model in first edition colours you will know that values are strong and only going one way. There is some silly money being asked for low mileage standard original versions. I am not after rainbow unicorn money, but neither am I going to give it away. I have a fair idea what it is worth and will accept the first reasonable offer made.
Thanks again.
