Description
1925 Triumph 500cc model P.
Here is a fabulous looking vintage Triumph 500cc model P from 1925. Arguably the model T Ford of the motorcycle world, the model P Triumph was one of the first relatively mass-produced “everyman's” affordable motorcycles. It was a great success and sold phenomenally well, out-stripping the market, which was at that time being satisfied mostly by a myriad of tiny producers using proprietary components.
Basically unrestored but the tank has clearly been repainted at some point.
Starts and runs well, rides well and chugs along nicely!
Good gears and clutch, not jumping out of gear at all! Steers steadily and handles well, brakes are pretty good by vintage standards but you need to be aware of their limitations. A very nice low revving torquey feel to the engine. Has a surprising amount of go but is best kept comfy at about 30-40mph.
There is an up to date V5C doc, registration WC1329 (cannot be transferred to another vehicle).
Frame number is 920358, engine number is 221830. These numbers are original Triumph factory stampings and match the V5C. It is registered of course as a Historic Vehicle therefore road tax is free and it is MOT exempt.
Cosmetically the bike is in typical old vintage bike condition. “Oily rag” would be a fair comment. It looks in keeping with its age. Very old paintwork n frame and guards and wheel rims and spokes but all is sound. Tank has been repainted and has been linered / sealed internally. It looks sound. Tyres front and rear are good looking Cheng Shin type. There is no fin damage on the engine. Gears and clutch are excellent. Positive hand- change mechanism and no jumping out of gear, even under load. The saddle is in very nice condition. Exhaust system is sound. Rear stand in good order and retaining spring clip works well.
All in all this is a very authentic vintage Triumph in good running order. Don't expect miracles, it's 100 years old next year but with a bit of care and love I'm sure it will last another 100 years or more! A great basic vintage motorcycle to own and enjoy and ideally get involved with some vintage club flat-tank riding days.
Don't miss this handsome vintage Triumph. Grab yourself some real life chique from the roaring twenties!
Selling as a good unrestored runner!
