Description
500cc OHC in-line twin cylinder engine with coil ignition and wet sump lubrication a dry clutch and shaft drive to the rear wheel. It has matching Frame, Engine and Gearbox numbers.
UK registered. As a historic vehicle it does not require MOT or Road Tax.
Not to be confused with the so called S7 Deluxe or the S8, the early S7 Sunbeams came with a lot more features including Fat Tyres, Inverted Leavers, Cable-free Handlebars, and the sought after ‘twist dip' High Beam.
Fuel tank has the rare Screw Cap.
Engine has a slight oil weep, it has the additional sump plate for added oil capacity, and a new 276 Amal carburettor. It also has the later Cam Chain Tensioner and the later Dynamo.
Bike underwent complete overhaul by Foxwood Motorcycles (Sunbeam specialist) in December 2024. Including: Engine, Gearbox, Shaft Drive re-built. Brakes and Suspension serviced. Oils and Filters changed.
Here are the bits that require attention: Toolbox is fibre glass (although you wouldn't spot it) - but mudguards, ignition and battery boxes are steel. There is a broken fin on the cylinder head - a lot of Sunbeams have this, there is a head bolt everyone misses when taking the head off! I have a spare cylinder head for this.
The bike starts and runs well and has been a pleasure to own, but lack of space has meant that it is time to let someone else enjoy the next chapter in the life of this iconic motorcycle.
Delivery can be arranged to UK mainland AT EXTRA COST.
