Description
1925 BSA L25, 350cc runs well with V5C doc. Here is a fabulous opportunity to own a 100 year old motorcycle. This 350cc L25 flat-tanker from 1925 has according to BSA OC dating certificate spent much of its life in Norway but was repatriated, restored and re-registered here in 2016. It is presented in good running order. It starts well and sounds great mechanically. The magneto was restored by Paul Wolf Magnet & Dynamo Repairs in 2017 at a cost of £370 (bill in file). There is plenty of oil getting about the engine, I tend to over oil these old total loss bikes when testing. You can worry about reducing the smoke down once you have got used to the bike and just how much oil it actually needs and regulate the feed accordingly. I have ridden the bike a short distance, It goes well and handles surprisingly nicely. Brakes are just about detectable! Clutch and gearbox will need some attention. I could only find 2 gears & neutral and they are not indexed as per the gate in the hand change mechanism. That said it seems to run very well on the two gears currently selectable!
The bike is road registered with a V5C doc. Registration number BF 7855 cannot be transferred to another vehicle. Frame number is F514, engine number is F266. These look to be authentic stampings. The bike is registered as a Historic Vehicle of course therefore road tax is free and it is MOT exempt.
Cosmetically the bike has been restored to a good standard. All black enamel is of excellent quality and is in good condition. Tank has been repainted to a high standard, looks as though the paint has been affected by petrol on the underside near the tap but it is not currently leaking. There is no fin damage on the engine. Forks feel to be in good condition. Rims and spokes front and rear are all nicely painted black. Tyres front and rear are very old beaded edge type with evidence of perishing in sidewalls. Kick–starter spring needs replacement, Clutch may need adjusting as there is some drag. Only two gears plus neutral currently selecting so some attention required here. These are simply boxes and spares are obtainable.
All in all this is an amazing opportunity to own, ride and improve what will be a 100 year old bike very very soon.
Don't miss this opportunity to own and enjoy a proper vintage BSA! Selling as a good runner to ride.
