Here is a great opportunity to acquire a genuine matching engine & frame Triumph 3T from 1947.
This bike, acquired from a deceased's estate, has clearly had a fortune spent on it. Paintwork & chrome etc. are pretty well to concours standard. New wheel rims, spokes, exhaust, seats etc. Tank rechromed repainted and pin-striped. New tyres.
Basically apart from sorting the engine & gearbox most of the other major expenses have already been met. The engine is not properly assembled, only placed into the bike hollow for some reason. The head on the bike is complete with all valve gear and looks excellent, but there's no crank or pistons or timing gears in it as it stands. (These are in the boxes +spares).
Speedo will need rebuild I think and BTH mag will need rebuild. There are some 4 pairs of second hand pistons plus a brand new boxed pair of proper old Hepolite +0.020” pistons. There are 3 crank shaft assemblies in pieces. Several oil pumps, cams, timing gears + several new gasket sets etc.
New wiring loom fitted but not completely connected up. No headlamp reflector and no battery.
Clutch is on the bike.
The bike comes with V5c doc. Registration number XXS 677. Frame number is T.C.6807, engine number is 47 3T 88696. According to factory records these are the original matching numbers. The bike apparently left the factory on 27th August 1947 for P.G. Spokes of Northampton. Now registered as a Historic Vehicle therefore road tax is free and it is MOT exempt.
Cosmetically the work that has been done is of a very high standard. The tank is beautifully chromed and has been nicely painted and pin-striped. All tinware and frame etc. has good quality stove enamel.
Wheel rims & spokes have been renewed, tyres are new Avons. All in all a great easy project only really requiring engine and gearbox overhaul to make a beautiful little rigid 350 Triumph. A perfect stable mate for any bigger brothers and an easy lighter, lower bike to handle and maneuver. Don't miss this matching numbers classic little Triumph. Selling as an unfinished project in need of engine / gearbox rebuild.
