1971 Lambretta GP200 Electronic
One of the last off the Italian production line of the Holy Grail with matching numbers only 75 apart... Registration No: BPP 659K
Frame No: 25796_ Engine No: 25803_
First registered 1st October 1971, so probably stored for around a year in Milan or London after it was originally manufactured, making it probably one of the very last UK registered electronics in England.
Rare Electronic version of the design icon by Nuccio Bertone acclaimed for his designs for Ferrari and Lamborghini.Correct numbers authenticated by The Lambretta Club of Great Britain.Verified by official Innocenti production records. The DL200 (known as the GP200 in Great Britain) was the last of the great Lambretta scooters that rolled off Innocenti's production line in Milan. Produced from January 1969 until April 1971 it is said a total of only 9350 DL/GP200's were made of which there are very few electronic versions. It is well known that Lambretta Concessionaires and other larger dealers tried to secure as many of the Innocenti scooters as possible when the company was in the process of liquidation as there was still high demand in the UK. We also know that probably less than 200 of this particular model even made it to the UK, as experts indicate that less than 750 electronic versions were produced, although all such records were created during a severe production slowdown and ultimately a sad closure of the factory. The DL200 (known as the GP200 in the UK) followed the SX200 and retained the engine prefix of SX200 before the serial number. There were, however, significant improvements to the engine over the SX including: improved crankshaft, a complete overhaul of the gearbox ratios and improved Ducati ignition. The iconic bodywork followed the trends of the day of the early 1970s. The Bertone design was more streamlined than its predecessors with a new 22/2 frame and rectangular headlight. This is a very rare opportunity for the most serious collector of Lambrettas. I am selling the last few of my highly prestigious collection now due to a recent and costly house extension and the ever rising cost of 3 daughters :)
