Welcome to a listing for the sale of one of my bikes. My BEAUTIFUL 1996 Harley Davidson FLHR Road King.
I have owned this bike since date of first registration in 1996. the previous 'owner' was the Harley dealer who sold it to me with Zero miles on the clock. on the day I collected it. I had to wait and watch as it was unpacked from the crate and assembled. so why they registered it to themselves I do not know. no one else but me has ever owned or ridden it.
It has been garaged throughout it's life when not being ridden.
I know everything that has been done to it and have owned Harleys without a break since 1981.

I am a trained mechanic and have maintained and serviced the bike using Harley Manuals and Parts throughout.
I haven't used the bike very often over the last 3 or 4 years. Just turned it over once in a while and taken it out for the odd spin. but I still gave it annual services ( and for me. a full service meant I even replaced the wheel bearings whether they needed it or not ). and a couple of years ago replaced the Drivebelt. Front and Rear Pulleys and Isolator Mounts. on age grounds. Since this. the bike has covered less than 500 miles. so they can be considered as new.
I think it is a very pretty and tastefully 'customised' Harley. To buy a new FLHR and make it look like this would set you back the business end of £ 25k. I know this is a 1340 and is 17 years old. but you will be hard pushed to find a nicer one that has been owned by someone who takes his Harleys so seriously.
Why am I getting rid of it ? I simply don't use it and really am into Veteran and Vintage Bikes. so pretty though it is. I am tired of polishing it and need some room.
Is there anything wrong with it ? I point out these things which are pretty minor for the sake of completeness :-
The electronic speedo doesn't work. it isn't the 'usual problem' where the unit fails. the crystals break up and can be seen on the display. I think it is a broken wire or loose connection somewhere as it occasionally used to burst back into life and display correctly whilst riding along which the broken ones never would. As the electronic speedo is linked to the turn signals. the turn signal auto cancel doesn't work. so you have to turn the signals off ( not exactly hard as you just press the button again to cancel ). There is also a small touched up chip on the gas tank. Other than that. for a 17 year old bike. it is in spanking condition. people just don't believe how long I have owned it. I have no idea what the mileage is as I haven't used it regularly for so long and the Speedo is defunct. I would therefore recommend a recommissioning service before using it on the road given how little I have used it.
The Tax Disc in the picture is from my 1936 Brough Superior and is there just to wind the local Plod up. it is not included in the sale.
If you come and look at it. which you are welcome to. you will not believe it dates from 1996.
I don't need the money and won't sell it for less than I can break it. remember. I have been into the Hardcore Harley scene for over 30 years. so stupid offers will be a waste of your time as I know where I can dispose of it in parts and for what sum.
