Harley-Davidson FXR FXRS Low Rider Sport

Here for sale is a Harley-Davidson FXR Low Rider Sport 1990 model. The bike was registered to its first owner on the 12/06/1990. The second owner bought it on the 02/04/1992. He then owned the bike for 21 years until I bought it last month.

The second owner bought the bike primarily to take in a tour of the United States. a long held dream of his. This he did and most of the first 10.000 miles that the bike covered were spent running around America over a several month tour. The bike has been to the Sturgis Rally ( there's a sticker from the event on the screen ) and Death Valley amongst many other famous venues all over the USA. With so many memorable memories gained on the trip he decided to keep the bike. Many other bikes have come and gone over the years but the Harley always stayed.

To the bike; Over the years that he owned the bike he made several modifications and upgrades. The bike has Koni rear shocks fitted. A pair of superb Harrison six pot billet front brake callipers… these are a monumental improvement over the original brakes. Harley-Davidson leather saddle/touring bags and rails are fitted. Several casings have the Harley-Davidson logos set in the middle. The bars have been changed for some more comfortable items. The brake and clutch levers are chrome. Its fitted with a Screamin' Eagle carb and a full Kerker exhaust system. The clocks now nestle in a very nice chrome mount. The indicators on the rear were changed for smaller ones to allow more room for the panniers.

From what I can tell from speaking to the last owner we think the bike was sold by the supplying dealer with the carb and exhaust fitted. The bike certainly sounds fantastic through the pipes and carburates effortlessly and pulls like a train.

A couple of years ago the bike was stripped down and the frame powder coated along with the swinging arm and rear brake mount. All of which still look excellent today. At the same time the owner took the opportunity to have the paintwork refinished at great expense. it looks lovely. The motor was inspected as a matter of course and was put back together with a clean bill of health and little more than a new set of new rings.

The bike has had a new pair of Avon Venom X's fitted in the last few hundred miles and obviously have thousands of miles left in them. The bike rides superbly on its Koni rear shocks and new tyres. The front brakes are incredibly reassuring too. I have all the previous MOT certificates to verify the mileage from new. The bike has been self maintained by the previous owner.

In picture 11 I have shown the items that will come with the bike on sale. Including; an MOT friendly numberplate. 3 service manuals. 1 original owners manual. a quality touring screen. the original rear indicators. a pair of front indicators to match the rears. the original handlebars. a brand new fuel tap ( the original has a repair ). a front fork mounted leather Harley bag. some official Harley oil and brake fluid and twelve brand new brake pads and pins for the Harrison six pots for when you need them.

As with all second hand vehicles there are a couple of things I would like any potential buyer to be aware of. There is a scrape ( I'm sure I made it visible in one of the photos. as it's not always obvious in pics ) on the underneath of the bottom exhaust. This doesn't detract from the bike in any way in my opinion. The only other thing of note is that the previous owner had the primary case chromed some years ago and it wasn't a great job. The chrome has started to flake. Included in the sale is really very nice chrome replacement ready to fit. as in the pics. I bought this because the bike deserved it.

The bike is currently MOT'd till the end of July and taxed till the end of February.

I have looked at all the other FXR's for sale in the UK on various sites at the moment and priced mine to sell. I think it has some really nice touches to it and the replacement cycle parts have been chosen as improvements and not just for show. Overall the bike is a great example of an FXR and rides incredibly well with a great engine.

** As a point of interest. the reason I have only had the bike a month: I bought the bike from a local gent who is a friend of mine. He didn't want to handle the sale of the bike as it represents an end of an era for him and possibly the end of motorcycling altogether. I've sold a couple of bikes this year which is why he asked me to help. I have never owned a Harley ( it's nice to try one of everything ) and did consider keeping it for myself which is why I transferred the bike in to my name. this also keeps things above board. The Harley just isn't for me though.
