Description
This is a GENUINE original 1974 CCM with a frame manufactured by Eatough before CCM took the frame building in house.
It is virtually as per catalogue with the exception of the front hub which has been replaced with a CZ Magnesium hub. a common modification in the day.
It has the gold anodized aluminium rim on the front with stainless spokes and Michelin tyre in good condition. Front forks are genuine CCM magnesium items and the sliders were rechromed and ground when the bike was restored in2005.
The front mudguard is the correct Preston Petty “Big Mudder” as fitted by the works.
The petrol tank is original and was refurbished so has no dents but has some wear scratches. Original seat but recovered with correct cover including name printed on rear panel.
The fibreglass air box has been refurbished and has new original Dzus plastic fastners fitted. New foam air filter fitted during restoration.
Rear wheel is the original magnesium CCM hub respoked with stainless spokes but retaining the original anodized rim in gold. fitted with Michelin rear tyre. The rear swing arm has a dent in it where the brake anchor broke and allowed the plate to spin and hit the swing arm.
The engine was fully rebuilt in 2005 by Peter Pilbeam well known B44/B50 engine builder and is 550cc capacity. When reuilt it was fitted with new valve springs but the forged piston was in good condition as was the big end. The flywheels were subject to a modification whereby some 30thou was machined off the inside of the wheels to avoid contact with the conrod. The crank was then re-assembled and balanced to suit the piston. The oil feed to the rockers is a Mark Cook (CCM Britain) armoured item and a valve lifter has been made and fitted so that the engine can be started with the kickstart.
The gearbox is an NEB close ration 3 speed item married to a full NEB alloy clutch. A B50 chaincase has been flycut to space out the CCM “Twin Saucepan” primary cover to clear the NEB clutch.
Ignition is provided by a self generating PVL Rex Caunt system.
The cylinder had has the correct original fland fitting with a 34mm Concentric 1000 series carb overhauled by Martin Bratby.
There are some fins missing from the cylinder as is usual with original CCM barrels.
This is not a show bike but a very clean usable and competitive machine.
Serious buyers are advised to view the machine prior to purchasing. Advertised elsewhere so may be removed at any time.
