Description
A genuine 1965 BSA A65 Lightning Clubman in excellent running order.
It has been owned by my friend since early 2000 and has been used on several BSAOC international events (Rome & Berlin)
He has not been using it for the last few years and has decided to sell it. I have looked after this bike for all its time with him.
The bike is an actual Lightning Clubman. of which only approximately 206 were made. so this is a chance to obtain a rare BSA production racer. The frame number is A50B. 5984 and the engine number is A65DC. 4140. I have shown a photo of these numbers and also a picture of the actual BSA dispatch book which confirms that the motorcycle is a Lightning Clubman which was dispatched to C. E. Cope in Birmingham on the 24th May 1965.
The bike starts 1st kick and runs beautifully. either restore it to factory specification. or use it as is.
Details ------------ The engine has had an SRM needle roller conversion. with polished con-rods. It has just been re-bored to +20 and has only been ridden for 30 miles since this was done. The oil pump has been replaced with a large gear alloy model for superior feed. The clutch has got Norman Hyde clutch plates and an SRM alloy pressure plate. There is an SRM finned sump plate with drain plug. There is a external Norton spin on oil filter which is mounted between the rear engine plates. http://www.norbsa02.freeuk.com/goffyoil.htm
There is a Bri-Tie anti-wet sump valve on the oil feed. Brand new front fork stanchions (short type) with new bushes & seals. Stainless steel front fork oil damper kit http://www.norbsa02.freeuk.com/goffyfork.htm
Later rear light with LED bulb board http://www.norbsa02.freeuk.com/goffyleds.htm
1970 Lightning petrol tank with chrome knee sides (This has a small dent in the front right side. and a very small dent no each chrome panel) Later rocker box with engine breather to rear catch tank be the number plate. The front forks are original. but there is a 1971 conical front hub and brake. The wheels are Akront 18" polished flanged alloys with very good Bridgestone Battlax BT45 tyres. The rear sets are make by Barleycorn http://www.barleycorn.co.uk/Rear-Sets
The speedometer and revcounter are not connected to the bike as we had used a bicycle speedo for the cafe racer look. The speedo drive from the rear wheel works. however the rev counter drive is missing. Most fastenings on the motorcycle are made from stainless steel.
The side panels are made from alloy by the Tank shop. look under Goodies and you will see my panels. http://www.thetankshop.com
The carberattors have been re-sloved my Martin Bratby and are handed mono-blocks with period alloy spacers and bell-mouths.
The motorcycle is wired for 12V and has a Boyer Branson electronic ignition system.
The exhaust system is a Toga Siamese system with a standard BSA silencer.
The gearbox has standard ratio gears within it. The rear sear is the original Lightning Clubman seat.
There are a number of spares with the motorcycle. these being. Early rocker box. Twin downpipes. Dual seat. Standard foot-pegs and brake levers. Fibreglass side panels. Assorted other parts.
If you require any more information then please ask.
