KTM 525 EXC Dakar Prepared Bike

KTM 525 EXC DAKAR PREPARED BIKE – ONLY 300 MILES.

This is a very rare. immaculate and stunning example of a Dakar prepared bike that is in excellent condition – the bike has only done 300 miles.

This bike was professionally prepared by Patsy Quick's Desert Rose Team for the 2008 Dakar.

Unfortunately the Dakar was cancelled due to terrorist threats and the bike was never used. it has only done 300 miles of testing in Morocco.

The bike was placed into storage and has never been used since then. The bike cost approximately £20000.

As part of a winter project I have carried out the following work on the bike:

· Fully serviced and race tuned by a qualified KTM mechanic.

· Fitted new Wheels with Talon Hubs and Excel Rims with up rated Spokes.

· Fitted new Michelin Desert Tyres and Mooses.

· Fitted a new battery.

· Fitted new front and rear sprockets and chain.

· Fitted new bike pads.

To freshen up the bike I have:

· Thoroughly cleaned the whole engine with Alibright.

· Replaced all rusty KTM bolts.

· Fitted new front and rear fenders.

· Re - sprayed both tank fenders.

· Cleaned and sprayed swing arm.

· Fitted new upper and lower fork decals.

Bike Specification

· Standard 07 KTM 525 EXC. it's single cylinder four stroke. four valve engine generates 55 bhp. liquid cooled. electric start and weighing 125 Kilos with the following modifications:

· MECA SYSTEMS 'EXTREME' RALLYE KIT which consists of the following:

- Two Plastic tanks on the front which carry 22 litres of fuel.

- Two Aluminium rear tanks which hold 5 litres each side.

- Up rated sub frame.

- The entire bracket work to hold the navigation and light equipment.

- MD road book.

- ICO racing trip meter.

- Repit by ERTF.

- Touratech Bracket by ERTF

- Bash plate. which holds a tool box and a water carrier that can contain 3 litres of water.

- Low slung exhaust.

- Rallye styled fairing

- Zenon lights to cut through the blackest of nights.

- Leather covered gel seat.

- Frame guards

- Cush drive rear wheel.

- Scott's steering damper

- Oil Cooler that extend oil changes to 30 plus hours or 1000 miles+

- GMX oversize rallye radiators

- Plastic rear chain guides (TM Designworks )

- Racing high bars.

- Foam Handgrips.

- Plus more that I'm sure that I've forgotten to mention :]

The bike is stored near Southampton in Hampshire.
