Description
This is a wholly original VMax in manufacturer's standard form. It has been used only for the summer months or those dry months during the summer period. It has only ever been driven once in the rain when caught in a sudden shower and being laid up for the winter has never been driven on salted roads. so no rusting has occurred other than a few blemishes on the exhaust box under the bike. All paintwork is intact. chrome-work is OK. seat fabrics are OK and mirrors and instrumentation are also all OK.
The registration number is based on the bike's model details. Interested parties can find these out when you call or view the bike.
The bike has been carefully run in and runs very sweetly whether about town or on open roads but when the throttle is fully opened. you get what you expect from all the electronic control technology applied to the intake and fuel injection systems in the form of fantastic engine noise and massive acceleration. It just has to be experienced to fully understand the effects.
It weighs some 300 Kg and drives through a shaft and this has noticeable effect on handling but is quite manageable. Having had the 1200 previously. this does handle a lot better and the brakes are simply excellent along with the ABS coming as standard. If you are looking for this amount of raw power and the handling of a R6 or other light sport-bike. stop reading and look elsewhere.
The bike is fitted with Tracker Monitor and I enjoy a life subscription of protection which ceases the moment the bike is sold. Contacting Tracker though and choosing a service that you want. ensures protection can be continuous.
Winter lay ups have been with weight off tyres and complete breathable covering in a dry environment. (my house). additives to oils in engine and differential to avoid condensation rusting etc. in the enclosed spaces. run up every 6-8 weeks. battery on Optimate all the time and oil /filter changes done at first service. end of running in and last at 1650 miles. The bike was registered for the road this year at the start of May with a 6 month tax disc. I will have the bike MOT'd as soon as a sale is agreed.
A recall was issued by Yamaha in 2012 to replace an oil pump drive pin and shaft for fears that failure here would result in loss of oil pressure. This work was carried out by Damerells of Plymouth and complete new pump was fitted. The old item showed no signs of weakness or wear so the engine had not been been compromised.
I will miss the thrill of riding the big bike and being able to appreciate its form and presence but personal circumstance forces me to sell it to someone that can make better use of it whether as an iconic sitting room ornament or highway cruiser.
If pickup mileage is not desirable. the bike can be delivered subject to separate agreement once the sale has been transacted.
