Yamaha RZV500 Track Bike, RD500, Fortune Spent, Project, Race

This is a unique opportunity to purchase a very special example of these rare 2-stroke V4 500 Grand Prix replicas.

This is the Japanese market version. the RZV500R. which features a beautiful hand-made alloy frame rather than the heavy steel item fitted to Euro bikes. Used from new as a track bike for demonstrations and parades in Japan. originally with the road kit removed it then underwent a further evolution and had a small fortune spent with an engineering company who specialise in custom race bike and car work. A genuine ex-Kevin Mitchell race fairing and seat from his 500GP YZR500 has been fitted which meant modifying many aspects in order to fit. including making custom fairing mounts. mounts for the fuel tap and choke. moving the CDI and PV boxes with custom mounts. custom dash mount. custom seat mounts etc. Custom CNC rear sets with TZ grand prix pedals were made. saving a lot of weight over the awful standard items. The tank was modified with a race filler. A full Jim Lomas exhaust system with stainless silencers was fitted. the difference in weight and sound over a standard system is unbelievable! Battery eliminator system making for much simpler operation and again more weight saved. The bike has not been used since it left Japan and has still only covered 4. 00km.

No stand included. The bike is generally in very good condition for the year as would be expected for such a low mileage but it is a used track bike so of course it has marks. wear etc. SOLD STRICTLY AS IS.

The fairing is an original race item so is chipped. cracked. scratched etc.

This is STRICTLY A TRACK ONLY BIKE - IT CANNOT BE USED ON THE ROAD AND IS NOT ROAD REGISTERED AS IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN A TRACK ONLY BIKE. I have ridden the bike & Checked the operation of the clutch. gearbox etc. and it's all nice and smooth but the purchaser must check everything for their own safety before riding it.

It starts easily and sounds absolutely gorgeous! Private sale. I had planned to go through it. finish a few bits off such as re-jetting and keep this as my own track bike possibly changing the colour to a replica of the Padgetts YZR bike but the purchase of something else expensive means it reluctantly has to go.

This bike is an appreciating classic & should rise in value over the years.
