Description
BSA A10 GOLDFLASH
CLASSIC 650cc TWIN Same owner for 57yrs with valuable registration number.
A very rare early model of the BSA A10 one of the very first swinging arm models. Registered MUS 199 on the 25th May 1954. and still retaining this number. The provenance is outstanding confirmed by the large history file with the bike Which contains the original bill of sale from the supplying dealer 'Bell Bros Ltd' of Glasgow which shows the bike at £227. 10-6 with a part exchange allowance of £110. 00-0. There is the original BSA guarantee card. running in instructions. and the original cardboard buff log book showing one owner living in Glasgow. The very first 1954 tax disc. and others are with the bike.
There are handwritten letters communicating with the BSA factory. and BSA's subsequent replies. and photos of the bike over the last 61 years. Along with this treasure chest of information are lots of receipts for work done. and parts purchased. I could sift through it for hours its so interesting.
In addition to this there is a box full of used parts relating to the machine. I suspect the owner was a person who did not discard anything. Truly a veritable treasure trove of provenance.
The bike itself is in remarkably good condition. being one of the early models it is equipped with far superior brakes to the full width type that were fitted later. The engine is a gem. starts easily. and sounds solid with the lovely BSA twin exhaust note. Gearbox is working fine. clutch takes up smoothly. The battery has just been replaced. and the lights are working fine.
Paintwork is good just carrying the little marks. and dings of ages. but nothing serious. The wheel rims are painted. tyres are good. The whole appearance of the bike is of a genuine classic! With a pleasing patina. its one of those bikes that stands out from the crowd of restorations. and attracts attention.
