Description
This extensively restored (17 years ago) BSA motorcycle has come up for sale here in West Sussex. The bike has not been used since the work was done. The worst of this bike is the chrome on the rear wheel rim and a missing battery. However with a battery borrowed from another bike and the fuel system bypassed the engine starts and sounds just fine. All the switches and lights work as they should.
To put this bike into action you need to clean the fuel system get a battery and take it for an MOT test. If there are no jobs to be done for the test and with a bit of luck you will be ready to go.
If you are interested in this bike then do get in contact and ask as many questions as you like.
Bikes that have been sitting unused too long may need special attention (keep this in mind when looking). Do not buy this unless you can undertake the repairs yourself. If you have to pay somebody else to make repairs you may not consider it viable.
Good general appearance.
The ride is spot on.
Reasonably good paintwork.
Electrical items & instruments all working with no warning lights showing.
Low general wear and tear & corrosion levels.
Included paperwork; HPI print out (all clear). V5 registration document. an expired MOT test certificate showing the same mileage as now. issued September 1998.
Bad Points
Its probably a bit slow.
Other.
There is no ignition key. Instead the switch has been put under the seat.
It is my opinion that the general condition of the bike is in keeping with its age however please ask for more detail and pictures if there is anything you want to see or know in more detail.
There are no signs of any serious previous accidents in the history or around the bike.
There are no other visible faults or damage.
I do not always make comment on items that are supposed to wear or age as part of their normal function on a used motorcycle unless specifically asked. These items can include tyres. brake friction material. drive chain and sprockets. tyres. fork seals. non stainless steel exhaust parts. lamp bulbs and anything else that might be affected by wear or age.
HPI Provenance Check.
The bike has been checked against the HPI database this shows the bike:
Has a secure background.
Is clear of finance.
Is clear of any previous accident insurance pay out.
Is not stolen.
There are a number of other features in the check that are also included.
If you go on to the RAC website you can get the check done yourself (at a cost of £25) they will also cover you up to £10. 00. 00 in case of an error.
MOT.
Although there is no current MOT test certificate with the bike. I could for the buyer get the local MOT testing station to test it. I can set the cost of this at £125. 00 (in case it cost more) this would include the MOT test fee. a battery and any repairs or adjustments needed and the transportation to and from the MOT testing station.
Viewing; Friday afternoons subject to availability.
