Nice Survivor 1969 BSA Thunderbolt 650 Motorcycle
Here we have for sale a nice, survivor 1969 BSA Thunderbolt 650. This is an old vintage BSA that has been around the Reno area for 40+ years. The bike had been stored away for many many years before it was discovered and brought back to life. The bike runs and rides beautifully. I love the look of old 60's BSA's with the black and chrome tank. The styling of these bikes are timeless and will turn heads everywhere you ride it. This is a great bike that has a fantastic old, survivor, patina'd look to it. The bike runs great. It starts up first kick, with no choke, every single time. It idles great and the exhaust really has a great note to it. I have attached a video of it idling. It sounds awesome! The tank is all original and in great shape. There are some scratches here and there in it but overall it looks great! The seat is original and in good shape. It has a great seat base. The original cover is nice with just a couple tiny little splits in the side of it. The black paint is in great shape and shines very nice. I fully detailed the paint and chrome on the bike and they looks great! Not perfect but something you can display and be proud to own. The headers are original but the silencers are old aftermarket units. The bike has a new battery and all of the electrical works on the bike. Headlight, tail light, brake like, and horn, all work. The bike also has an upgraded rectifier to modernize the charging system. The rubber is all original on the bike and has cracks in it. I like the look of a survivor bike so I elected to keep that all on the bike but it could be easily replaced, if the new owner decided. The bike stops great. The wheels are original and true. The rear tire has some sidewall cracking in it. I ride it on the street here just fine. The fenders are original and are in good shape. There is a little split in the rear fender. The handlebars and controls are all original and are in great shape. The engine is out of a 1966 BSA Hornet. This is a really neat Thunderbolt with the hot rod 650 Hornet engine. The Hornet engine has higher compression and a racing cam. It had higher horsepower and better acceleration then the other BSA 650's of the era. The engine still has its factory single Amal 928 carburetor and air filter. So it appears stock and original. I rebuilt and tuned the factory Amal carburetor. I also rebuilt the original petcocks. The inside of the gas tank is clean. I only use non-ethanol gas in my vintage bikes and cars. The bike has a Boyer electronic ignition on it which is another reason why this bike runs so well. The bike still has its Lucas dual coils and it has brand new spark plug wires. Overall this is a great rider 69' Thunderbolt with a hot rod Hornet engine installed. Have a blast on this bike all fall and winter long. These early BSA's are some great bikes to buy. I have a clean and clear Nevada title for the bike. Again, this is a great survivor, bike that has a ton of character. It's not perfect and shows patina, but a bike that runs and rides great and something you can have a blast on for not that much money. I can store the bike for up to a month in safe storage, so that the bike can get paid for and shipping arrangements are made. I have had great luck using uship.com for shipping. However I do have some other shipping contacts if the buyer needs. Please ask any and all questions that you may have. Thanks for looking!
