1984 Yamaha RD500 LC (47X) RD500 - 12 months mot - matching numbers

Offered for sale is a 1984 Yamaha RD500 LC. This is a first year '47X' model first registered on 18/07/1984 that was originally supplied to the French Market. The odometer shows it has covered approximately 52,000 miles since new. The previous owner owned the bike for over 15 years, in this time it was restored by him and the engine was rebuilt. It's in good useable condition and has recently passed an MOT with just one advisory for a slightly worn shock absorber bush. It could be used as is or is a great candidate for further restoration to take it to the next level. This is a good opportunity to get on the RD500 ladder, as you will know most bikes on the market are restored or in near mint condition and command very high prices.
As stated previously the bike was restored by the previous owner, if you take a close look at the photographs the paint appears to be a DIY job and isn't of the highest quality. All of the hard to find covers and heatshields are present, it's not pictured but i do have the original stone guard that fits in the belly pan. Obviously some parts have been mirror polished, including the swingarm, but i do have an original anodised finish swingarm that i will include. I also have a solo seat cover that needs painting and spare N/S lower expansion chamber that i will throw in.
Mechanically, it starts, runs and rides without fault. I have checked compression with plugs out and throttle wide open and achieved consistent readings of 120+ across all cylinders. The switch you can see behind the instrument cluster is a manual cooling fan switch.
