Description
I have owned this vehicle since 1968 and as far as I know all the parts are original, apart from the front mudguard and the battery.
The following parts are missing, however: Right-hand side panel, front mudguard, silencer, kick-start lever, petrol tap and some trim and perishable items.
Parts identified as requiring replacement: flat floor panel, battery, light switch, wiring loom, control cables.
Parts identified as requiring repair: Dual seat, left-hand side panel, battery holder.
All parts will need to be examined for serviceability before refurbishment or replacement.
New replacement parts are available for just about everything, and at reasonable prices, but sourcing "new old stock" to comply with the full Historic Vehicle restoration will be less easy, and more expensive.
Having personally ridden and maintained Vespa scooters for six years, back in the day, and having fully restored one recently I can offer a limited amount of advice about restoring this one, if required.
Recently registered with DVLA as a Historic Vehicle with its original number YEW589 (non-transferable).
This scooter is being sold for full restoration. Prospective buyers or their agents may examine it and its parts prior to the date of sale but they should be aware that no "offers" will be accepted once the sale has concluded.
Buyer to collect following payment clearance.
Rebuilding the vehicle outside of the Historic Vehicle specification may need to be reported to the DVLA.
The vehicle has a V5C and must be taxed (free) or SORNed.
Original RF60 logbook also present.
This British-made Vespa was bought new at the start of the mod era, and presents a rare opportunity to recreate a genuine part of British manufacturing and cultural history.
The legshields have been clipped by about 1cm around the edges (see new photo). Replacement one-piece legshield and floor panel sections are obtainable.
