1967 BSA HORNET, Red

This 1967 BSA a65 650cc Hornet was Restored/Rebuilt a few years ago, and sat in a heated basement since. It has not had gas or oil in it since the rebuild. Motor was completely rebuilt, and the bike has many NOS parts on it. Before starting, the bike, it would need gas, oil, and the coil wires connected. (Unfortunately, the owner/restorer passed away recently, so I can't tell you much more about it.) The Hornet was a factory special built by the BSA factory, and for a couple of years, were shipped to the USA to compete against the Triumph T100 Desert racer. (From Google)At the Hornet's heart was BSA's stout 654cc, air-cooled, overhead valve A65 parallel twin. The mill was fitted from the factory with a racing cam and high-compression pistons, and the four-speed trans was geared for fast acceleration rather than cruising. Eight-inch drum brakes from the Gold Star were added and modified with deeper cooling fins, and the suspension was beefed up a bit to deal with off-road abuse. Cosmetically, the Hornet was a stripped down as could be. No headlight, no taillight, no speedo, and simple scrambler-style straight-through high pipes. It did come with a tach, though. Hornet production ended in 1967. Not many Hornets remain since most were ridden to death or wrecked and abandoned out in the desert. Those that remain, though, demand a pretty penny if and when they can be found. Bike has a free and clear Missouri Title.
