SUZUKI RGV250 VJ23 V VERY RARE EXPORT MODEL. ONE OF ONLY 360 BUILT
I HAVE OWNED THIS BIKE SINCE 2011 AND REGISTERED IT IN 2014. THIS IS THE VERY RARE V MODEL AND IS ONE OF ONLY 360 BUILT ACCORDING TO THE FRAME NUMBER INFO ON THE RGV250 FORUM. I HAVE SPENT A SMALL FORTUNE ON THIS BIKE AND UPGRADED MANY PARTS. IT HAS MARVIC MAGNESIUM WHEELS, BREMBO BRAKES, RS250 FORKS, NITRON SHOCK AND JOLLY MOTO PIPES. THE CYLINDER HEADS HAVE HAD THE CORRECT SQUISH AND THE TOP END HAS BEEN REPLATED WITH NEW PISTONS / RINGS. I ALSO FITTED A NEW STARTER MOTOR AND SOLENOID. THE BIKE WAS SET UP ON THE DYNO WITH CORRECT JETTING IN 2019 AND PRODUCES 63BHP AT 10680 RPM AND 31.2FT-LBS TORQUE. TO RIDE IT HANDLES BEAUTIFULLY AND THE ENGINE IS CRISP AND RESPONSIVE. IT HAS BEEN FITTED WITH A MPH SET OF CLOCKS. THE BIKES DONE VERY LITTLE MILEAGE SINCE THE TOP END REBUILD. CONDITION WISE THE TANK IS PERFECT AND NO INTERNAL RUST. THE BODY WORK HAS SOME MARKS BUT NOTHING FOR ITS AGE AND COULD EASILY BE SORTED OUT. THIS IS A REALLY WELL SORTED OUT BIKE AND COULD EASILY BE MADE IMMACULATE. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED PLEASE CALL ME. I FOUND THIS INFORMATIVE DESCRIPTION ON MOTORCYCLE SPECS ' SUZUKIS FINAL INCARNATION OF THE RGV 250, THE 1996 VJ23 WAS NOT ONLY THE FINEST TWO-STOKES EVER BUILT. RATHER THAN JUST KNOCKING OUT A LAST OF THE LINE EDITION BASED ON ITS PREDECESSORS THE VJ23 GOT A TOTAL REDESIGN FROM THE ENGINE OUT.
WHERE PREVIOUS RGVS WERE POWERED BY A 90 DEGREE TWO STROKE V TWIN THE VJ23 GOT A 70-DEGREE UNIT WITH A SMALLER BORE AND LONGER STROKE GIVING IT DIMENSIONS CLOSER TO SQUARE AND MORE AKIN TO THE GP BIKES THAN ITS GREATLY OVERSQUARE PREDECESSOR.
A CLOSE RATIO GEARBOX AND DRY CLUTCH UNDERLINED THE NEW MODELS SPORTS PRODUCTION TAG. A KIT GEARBOX WITH TALLER FIRST AND YET CLOSER RATIOS WAS AVAILABLE TOO. WHERE PREVIOUS RGVS HAD BEEN KICKSTART THE 23 GOT AN ELECTRIC START ALTHOUGH THERE WAS NO OVERALL WEIGHT PENALTY FOR THIS GIVEN THE EXTENSIVE REDESIGN WORK ELSEWHERE. CHASSIS-WISE THE VJ23 IS AS EXQUISITE. FULLY ADJUSTABLE SUSPENSION AND GP-INSPIRED FRAME AND SWINGARM ARE TOPPED OFF WITH UNCOMPROMISING BODYWORK. NOT ALL VJ23S WERE CREATED EQUAL AND THIS IS VITAL FOR A PROSPECTIVE BUYER TO KNOW,
PRODUCTION STARTED SOME TIME PRIOR TO FEBRUARY 1996 WITH THE FIRST 50 BIKES BEING BUILT IN THIS PERIOD; INDEED THE BIKE BROKE COVER AT THE 1995 TOKYO SHOW. BIKES BUKT UP UNTIL LATE MAY 1996 WERE RESTRICTED TO 40BHP AND KNOWN AS THE T MODEL. ALL BAR ONE, WHICH WAS THE PROTOTYPE FOR THE FULL-POWER 48 BHP V MODEL, ALSO KNOWN AS THE EXPORT MODEL, ENDING IN 1997.
IN TOTAL JUST 2218 VJ23 WERE BUILT WITH JUST 360 OF THOSE, PLUS THE PROTOTYPE BEING THE FULL FAT RGV250V.
Hi, I purchased the bike of Ghecko Motorcycles in 2011 as an import straight out of the container and let it sit in my garage until December 2014 when I registered it. Mileage when first registered by me was 5281 miles which on the original clock showed 8499 kilometers. The mileage is documented on the application to register as the original clock and the mph clock fitted by me. The mph clock was a cheap GSXR600 clock showing 39979 miles that looks almost identical to the original. I purchased this clock not knowing if it would work or not to find out it worked perfectly. On the 7/6/23 I purchased a new clock set showing 2044 miles that is now fitted to the bike and works perfectly. I had the cylinders re plated in December 2018 along with new pistons, rings and small end bearings. I have a receipt for this from The Tuning Works. You may wonder why the mileage covered is so low well I currently have 10 bikes in my collection taxed insured and motd and several projects. I only ride when the sun is shining and its warm. The bike did need a lot of work to bring it back to life from the container to registration.
