Description

When Honda came to America in the early 1960s, all of their motorcycles were available in 4 factory colors, red, white, blue, and black. Many models to choose from had these options such as CB 160, CB 77 305, CB 72's, and Honda Dreams 150 to 305cc. 1965 was the year the CB 450 K0 was introduced as Hondas largest engine displacement. The Black version (Black Bomber) was for the US market only. The Red (or Scarlet) version (Red Dragon) was for the European and Asian markets. The White 450's were only for Police Specials and Blue was never produced. The idea I had was to make a run of CB450 K0's in every color that was available to all the other models in the 1960s…including Blue! A few years back, I was featured in Motorcycle Classics magazine with my Honda Red Dragon 450. I also had a 1969 K1 450 Police Special that recently sold on BaT. Pictures and video don't do it justice. It is an amazing looking color scheme! Too bad Honda didn't give this a shot before they moved on to the K1 !
A few things to note. As I stated before I made this bike for myself so I did some changes. The motorcycle has 1966 “one piece” exhaust headers and mufflers. The 1965 would've had a two-piece set up. Also, I put on Honda OEM CB400F handlebars because I believe there aesthetically pleasing and are ergonomically fantastic to drive with! I removed one of the bars that hinges the seat to enable the seat to come off/on extremely easily. It's still functions as normal, but comes off without any effort.
The seat is a 1966 version with the upswept front end, which I prefer because of the lines from the tank to the seat. I do not have mirrors for the bike as I typically run one left side bar end mirror. The Elephant horn sounds like a dying duck. I am working on it and will keep everyone posted.????????
The motorcycle has gone through a complete frame up restoration. Everything Blue was powder coated approximately 4 years ago. The engine was separated, cleaned, and vapor blasted 3 years ago. Internals checked to specs and cylinders were honed and pistons given new rings. New cam chain and rollers installed. Valves were lapped and seated. All new engines seals and gaskets throughout. Starting in 2023/24 the following was done: Wheels were laced and trued to original DID rims with stainless steel spokes by Buchanan Rim And Spoke. All chrome components were re-chromed and all aluminum parts polished to a chrome like finish. New front forks seals, new OEM front/rear brake shoes, new primary/rear drive sprockets. Speedometer/Tachometer inspected, lubed and rolled back to zero by Ronnie Jenning of RJ Cycle…it works perfectly! New Duro tires front/rear w/tubes. Rebuilt original starter motor. New peacock fuel lines and in-line filters. Reupholstered seat with original buckles. New OEM breaker plate and point assembly. Aftermarket gearshift lever (includes original chromed gearshift lever). All rubber replacements from Clauss Studios. New 530 DID chain, New Protek sealed gel battery. New OEM left/right switches and levers. New OEM Speedo packing and headlight assembly. Cloud silver fenders, horn, fork lowers, tail light housing and sidecovers (with decals) professionally painted. Period tool kit and title “tube mount” on license bracket. Many original nuts, bolts washers, etc. cad plated. All 5 gray cables brand new from Charlie's Place in Los Angeles. Replacement CB450 tank badges and tank knee grips.
The bike starts right up electric or kickstart runs and idles, great and shifts smoothly through all 4 gears.
Clear California non-op title in my name. Please feel free to ask any questions as I may have forgotten something. I have many videos from beginning stages to the end …as well as walk around demonstrations, cold start, riding, idling etc. Please ask and I can send more videos. I'm only allowed a one minute video here.! I am able to help with international and domestic shipping if needed. Thank you for looking!
Deposits are nonrefundable.
I have pictures of the frame and engine numbers as well as many videos of all phases of restoration, walk arounds, cold starts, running and riding!
