Description
A unique opportunity to acquire a rare, and very early production 1973 Suzuki GT550 triple 2-stroke is here before Spring sets in.
This Triple spent it's life in the ownership of a Kansas City Harley dealer, and vintage motorcycle racer. It was in a heated and AC treated space it's full life, short of the few miles driven. When we got it, we had to change out the headlamp, using an original NOS one (we saved the packaging ), as seen in the run up video. We fired it up and then considered possible bearing corrosion, so we opted to call a shop in North Carolina to have the crankshaft rebuilt on their jig with all new bearings and seals. New pistons and rings came in from Japan, as did the seal kit. After the shop finished the assembly, the oilers were primed and the rotating assembly was turned by hand to ensure a coating of oil over the surfaces. All of the internal parts still have assembly lube, so this bike can sit for decades in your collection without fear of bearing corrosion, or run it for years to come.
The front master cylinder is the really rare early version. Later ones went to a plastic fluid bowl. It was rebuilt, and the three carbs were also rebuilt as well.
It has an original NOS tool kit still in the factory bag.
The bike is near-perfect, with only defects being a few small paint chips around the headlight bucket, and a few tiny spots on the tank. There is a dimple on the front fender as well, from when the dealership was getting some interior work, and someone dropped something on it- Limited to only what is seen in the photo. Again, this is a totally original bike, all the way down to the tires- which are in perfect condition. A testament to it's state of preservation.
We can assist in delivery in an enclosed van to most any location in the USA for an additional, but reasonable fee.
Clear title, and original keys. Paint chips on fuel tank from moving damage.
