Description
For sale is a BSA B31 which has previously been restored to a very high standard and regardless of cost.
This is my Fathers bike and is reluctantly offered for sale due to his ongoing mobility issues. He purchased the bike around 5 years ago with the intention of having one final nostalgia trip that sadly has not materialised. Now at 89 years old he has decided to sell it and let someone else use it as it should be rather than keep it on display as it has been in recent years. He does not do internet or phones and has asked me to sell it. He has been riding BSA bikes for more than 70 years and at some point you have to admit defeat I guess.
The bike comes with a large folder of invoices bills history documentation photos, old and current V5s, 2 dating letters both showing that the bike as it is now was manufactured in 1950 and left the factory like this, 1950 road test reprint and info, historical documentation, details of suppliers and parts used, letters relating to the bike and info.
There are restoration invoices in the file for well in excess of £4000 including £1350+ at Draganfly and £492 mag/dyno recondition and £684 at Petes bikes inc. labour. £187 speedo restore. £140 carburettor. £230 tank restore. Lots of ££s on all new stainless fasteners etc. The bike has done 2 miles on the road since this work. Obviously its historic so road tax is free and it doesn't need an mot and classic insurance is very cheap.
This is a 75 year old bike being sold as a project which is sold as seen. Please study the pictures and make your own mind up. Condition is always very subjective. I think the bike is stunning but you might think its a wreck. You are welcome to come and look over it. There is no hidden agenda with this and its a genuine bike and a reluctant sale. There is a blister in the paint on the top of the tank which is a shame and some of the chrome on bits of the rims is showing corrosion and it leaks oil in common with many old brit bikes ... my 73 Commando is a lot worse ... I am being critical here but also honest. I think the pictures tell the story.
