Description
Very reluctant sale of this unique Golden Special. originally built by Miles Davidson of Miles Ahead Restorations for himself over 10 years ago.
The scooter has been meticulously maintained and ridden. I have tried to maintain the scooter to its original build by Miles. however due to someone riding into the side panel I could not get a match to the original paint and had no choice but to two tone the paintwork.
The scooter has continually been rode and since the original build running the original 175 convention has covered over 25.000 miles without any breakdowns what so ever. In April 2012 in preparation for Euro Lambretta in Belgium I took the decision to rebuild the engine and gearbox replacing the 175 kit for a 186 cassa and changed the gearbox to a GP 200. After a brief bedding in I rode to euro covering over 800 miles without a murmur. Oh and after a blow out at full tilt I replaced the standard rims to tubeless.
This scooter is well known by most of the Scootering fraternity and featured in March 2006 Scootering Magazine.
This scooter although I hate the cliche has been ridden and not hidden.
Cosmetically there are a couple of light stone chips and wear and tear on the gold plating. especially on some of the trim (the floor runners. kick start. running board embellishes and panel decals). I have spoken to Karl Russell at Quality Chrome who did the original plating and he can re-polish and plate. Given the wear and tear this scooter is still as good as the day it was built by Miles. Everyone has called me an idiot for selling but I have owned it for nearly 8 years and we have a Series 1 and a Lambro to build this winter.
