Description
For sale is my Triumph Tiger 1050 in metallic black.
I bought the bike in August 2011 from Triumph main dealer Three Cross Motorcycles. Dorset. It's mostly been ridden on my 40 mile round trip to work and around Wales where the Tiger's proved itself as a tourer. There's also plenty of speed on tap with handling to deal with it.
I use my bikes in all weathers and I've really appreciated the touring screen. heated grips. hand guards and riding position. the last of these as I had a bad back for a while. The bike's been well looked-after with frequent cleaning/lubing and regular servicing. I've only done 150 miles since the last service in June 2013 which was the biggie pre-12.000 mile main service costing over £500 - something to bear in mind if you're thinking of buying a lower mileage machine!
The bike is always garaged and kept on an Optimate charger. Because I commute in the hours of darkness I need good lights. hence the HID Xenon upgrade on dip and main beam purchased from HID City. The OE gear lever was an odd size and shape so I've upgraded that with a full-stainless steel lever giving much better shifts and is much more comfy for my average-sized foot.
Standard items and extras include:
Datatool alarm & immobiliser
ABS
heated grips
hand guards
centre stand
belly pan
full colour-matched luggage / single key operation
additional Triumph seat pack soft luggage that attaches to rear seat
touring and standard screens
HID lights upgrade
fender extender
Scott oiler
rear hugger
gear lever upgrade
Mirror extenders
This is a very practical bike with sensible upgrades and is a great all-rounder. The only negative is there are minor marks on the left side of the tank and engine cover. Three Cross M/cycles told me this was caused when the previous owner - who toured Europe on the Tiger - lost his grip of the bike in his garage and it went gently to the floor. They were minimal enough not to put me off so I hope you'll think the same. The Michelin Pilot tyres have done nearly 6000 miles. I don't plan to replace them so I'll leave the choice of new tyres to the new owner. At the last service. Three Cross reported the chain and sprockets would be due replacement soon.
Viewing is recommended. test ride's welcome with the full cash asking price as deposit.
I'm selling the Tiger because I've taken up cycling as a middle-age crisis and I'm just not using it enough.
