Description
2010 model Yamaha WR450F - UK Road Registered - note this is specifically the European model WR450F which comes fully homologated for road use. and is therefore eligible for FIM Production/Marathon class. This bike is road registered in the UK. from 1st April 2010 - one owner (myself). currently MOT'd. and if sold to a UK buyer will come with 12 months Tax.
Originally built using all new parts. this WR450F has been extensively modified to compete in Cross-Country Rally-Raid events. up to and including the F. I. M. World Championship and the annual Dakar Rally. The extent of the modifications dramatically increase it's ability to cover large distances. off-road. and at speed. The modifications include replacement main and auxiliary fuel tanks that offer a combined total of 25 litres (well in excess of 300kms range). a full carbon-kevlar fairing (brand new). LED lighting. navigation tower for specific rally instruments. heavy duty rally-specification Talon wheels (together with the OEM wheels as spares) - please see full specification below:
Mileage:
This bike has covered approximately 8000kms from new: 1000kms initial break-in. 2000kms at the FIM Oilybia De Tunisie in May 2010 (finished 22nd O/A. 1st in Ladies class). before being fully prepared (including a further 1000kms testing) for Dakar 2011 - where it covered approximately 3000kms before my retirement on Stage 4. Since rebuilding earlier this year (with brand new 2012-onwards version of the JVO fairing/lights/tower). it has covered a further 1000kms shakedown (including a lap of the Isle of Man TT course - I don't imagine there are many bikes that can lay claim to both the Dakar and the TT course!)
General specification:
• Engine has been fully 'uncorked' with the correct jetting. together with the OEM 'Enduro' exhaust fitted. Otherwise the engine remains in standard tune. as per the Marathon Class regulations.
• Trail Tech up-rated Stator fitted. and electrical system converted to full DC - that is everything including headlight runs off the battery.
• Rally kit is the JVO 'Lite' kit - that is 2 x 10 Litre front fuel tanks together with brand new carbon-kevlar fairing (2012-onwards model). navigation tower and LED headlights.
• Between the main tanks there is a separate custom made GMX alloy fuel tank with 5L capacity. with a dedicated tap allowing it to be used as reserve. Total fuel capacity is 25 Litres. Note. it is possible to extend the fuel capacity of this machine even further by incorporating a rear auxiliary fuel tank. such as the 5L Safari Tank. made specifically for the WR450F.
• Mikuni vacuum fuel pump and heavy duty (crimped) fuel lines. with dry-break QR connectors for the side mounted tanks to allow easy access for routine servicing.
• A single switched electric fan is fitted to the right-hand radiator.
Cockpit & Controls:
• Brand new 2012 (onwards) JVO carbon/kevlar fairing fitted (freshly painted in white gloss). with twin Vision-X Solstice LED headlights - one wide/low beam. and one spot/high beam - note: low beam remains on permanently. high beam is switched as required.
• 2012 JVO Navigation tower with brackets/mounting plate to accept a variety of Navigation Equipment (note. currently an MD roller roadbook and Touratech R50 IMO are fitted. but not included in sale price - may be available by separate negotiation).
• 8-way fuse box in cockpit pre-wired to battery (4 terminals switched via toggle. and 4 are permanently wired to battery for Iritrack/Sentinel etc. as required by FIM regs. )
• GPR V4 steering damper and bar-risers fitted.
• Renthal RC High bend Fatbars fitted. together with foam grips.
• All cockpit cables/wires routed and spiral wrapped for protection. as is the main loom.
• Barkbuster alloy handguards with 'Storm' shields fitted.
Bodywork:
• Stock seat has been reshaped with additional comfort foam and professionally coved with grey suede.
• Flatland Racing Alloy bash-plate fitted. Note. Twin custom water tanks by GMX [not shown] that bolt to the bash-plate are also included in the package price. they have a couple of dents in them but are still more than serviceable for rally use.
• Front KTM 'Adventure' Low fender on Meca'System brackets fitted.
• Rear Acerbis WR fender in white fitted. with additional DRC LED safety lamp (FIM regs) to supplement OEM LED rear light. Metal full-size licence-plate hanger (easily removable).
Wheels & Tyres:
• Talon Rally wheels: Silver Talon billet hubs (with cush-drive rear) and heavy duty spokes - black Excel rims. Tyres are currently part-worn Michelin Deserts. with HD tubes. Note. package price also includes a full set of spare wheels - the original OEM Yamaha wheels (Excel rims). together with a second set of OEM discs/sprockets and unused Michelin Deserts and Mousses fitted.
Further information:
• As part of the full re-build earlier this year. the bike has had a full fork service (by Torque Racing). plus new brake pads. DID X-ring chain and sprockets.
• As part of the package price. there is also a box of consumable spare parts including brake-pads. cables. 7 air-filters (Twin Air). oil-filters. spare levers. spokes. bearings and other service sundries. As a package. this bike is ready to race at any International rally.
• When you consider the specification. and amount of preparation work that has gone into this machine. never mind it's colourful and unique history. I trust you will agree the sale price of £8000 GBP for the full package including spares represents exceptionally good value for money.
• Please note. This bike is located in the UK - however. due to the unique nature of this machine. in this particular instance I do welcome serious buyers from Europe and even further afield. on the understanding that they must pay a substantial deposit to secure the sale. and arrange their own shipping. I am however more than happy to prepare this bike for shipping. including partial dismantling. fluid draining etc. and can deliver to London air/sea ports - please contact me for further information.
