Despatched form the Norton Bracebridge works. to Agent: ‘Burnett. Southsea' on the 03. 01. 1934. then sold to retail purchaser: ‘A. Young' Southsea on the 22. 01. 1934. The Factory Record reads: Dynamo. Foot Change. Panel with 80 MPH Speedo and Leg shields.
For the side valve machines. 1934 was the first year for the Norton forks with check springs. neater revised positive stop mechanism for the 4 speed Sturmey Archer gearbox. including Norton clutch/oil Bath. tubular silencer. complete with large hub QD wheels. the bike appears to be very original for parts.
The combination has been yard tested. the engine fires into life pretty much first kick. has excellent compression and sounds crisp and healthy. the magneto produces a fat blue spark at the plug. the clutch and all 4 gears select/engage correctly. in addition the girder forks appear to be working correctly along with both front and rear brakes.
Restored to a ‘fair standard' during the early to mid 1980's. the machine has been off the road since 1987-88. Tax and MOT exempt the machine will require a complete check over and slight re-commissioning prior to road use.
Overseas and part exchange enquiries welcome.
