Matching numbers throughout. in addition the factory record shows that the fork number. etc. are as they left the factory. The bike retains its original and transferable Portsmouth registration number. complete with first issue buff log book and new V5c. the machine was last used on the road during 1971 and has been dry stored ever since.
For 1957 the 19s received a new all tubular frame. large fin alloy head with internal pushrod tunnels. including a host of additional changes over the 1956 model year. The 19s in this guise was discontinued during 1958 which makes this a rare low production machine.
The engine has excellent compression. fuel tap corks have been re-soaked. magneto points cleaned/re-set. engine oil replaced and with fresh fuel added the engine instantly fired in to life. engine oil returns to the tank in strong pulses. All 4 gears engage positively and smoothly. along with the clutch which shows no sign of drag/slip. The primary case is holding oil with no evidence of leakage. all nuts and bolt heads appear crisp with no signs of ill fitting tools being used. in addition the tin wear is solid and all appears to be original to the machine.
A straight forward restoration. if you are looking for a Classic single cylinder Norton that will keep up with modern day traffic then this is the machine. Tax and MOT exempt. sold for restoration. overseas enquires and part exchange welcome.
