The trike - based on a BMW R1150R donor bike
It uses a BMW donor bike with an expertly crafted and designed 'rear-end'. The machine has sophisticated double-wishbone rear suspension mounted on a light but very torsionally rigid space frame sub-chassis which attaches to the rear end of the original bike frame. Sophisticated. rose-jointed independent double wishbone rear suspension and high quality adjustable dampers guarantee a smooth ride. whilst maintaining high speed cornering capability. The inboard anti-roll bar acts within the body work to keep body-roll under control.
The Trike 1150R boasts a sporting but comfortable ride. safe. precise handling with minimum steering input. and a lot of performance.
Trikes registered in the UK can be ridden using a car licence; a motorcycle test is therefore not a legal requirement.
The donor bike came from a friend of mine and despite being manufactured in 2002 had only clocked up 7600 due to his inability to ride through ill health. Since the trike was completed in 2012 it has only travelled 800 or so miles. this time due to my health problems - I suffered a partial paralysis of my left hand and arm following surgery. It has been said that old rockers never die but we sure take a beating now and then!
Anyway. enough of the violins. it is for sale.
It is in excellent condition and looks stunning. performs exceptionally well (it still rips it up to well over 100mph at the twist of the throttle) and is a head-turner wherever you go. People just stop and stare. take photographs and sometimes even beg for rides because of its fantastic looks.
It retains all of the original bike's main features: ABS. 6 speed. shaft drive. servo brakes. The kit incorporates independent rear suspension with disk brakes and a hand brake; it also has a stainless steel exhaust. A new. sealed for life. battery was installed at the time of construction. The rear wheels compliment the existing front wheel and really set the bike off.
There is a 60litre removable Givi top-box and a 10litre BMW tank bag incorporating a map case. The ample top box easily allows a crash helmet to be stored.
Also an alarm/immobilizer is fitted - a Thatcham approved DataTool; a disk-lock is also included.
Taxed and MoT until June 2014 it is ready for that long. hot summer the weatherman are forecasting ;-) Cruising around on a lovely day takes some beating believe me.
The trike is ready for a test run anytime. I am able to ride it short distances but after a few miles my left hand gives up but if it does at least you cannot fall off a trike!
