Description
This is my 1982 Honda CBX 1000 'C'.
Firstly, it's for sale due to finances, pure and simple. It's a lovely toy, but I have taken on a big, hungry project, and I have another CBX awaiting attention in a box (one day). So...
This was owned by a dealer for the last ?? years. He gradually went through it. It's had a powder-coated frame. I'm unsure of everything on his list, but it looks extremely well-maintained and original. The wheels have had attention. No leaks of anything from anywhere. Nothing is missing, nor is anything out of place. I bought it last year and have covered a few hundred miles, compiling a "to-do" list. This is a truthful list. I see many people have "immaculate" CBXs, but when you listen and look, it's not so. Again, this is an honest description with nothing hidden.
For MOT: The headlamp also half-lights the indicators. I'm sure this will be a bad earth wire—I've seen this before. Horn, brake lights, etc., are all fine, but this will need fixing for the MOT.
Smoky on start-up—goes in 10 seconds. Fairly sure this will be stem seals. I have bought a set of Viton seals ready to fit.
Carbs, of course, need balancing. I have bought six recon kits, ready to go.
Clutch rattle? Many varying opinions. It has a noise from the clutch casing area, worse at its lowest RPM. Most lifelong bikers tell me it's normal, and to leave it alone, and that I'm too fussy. But I don't like it and would pursue it!
I'm also advised never to try sorting out funny noises on a CBX until the carbs are balanced! Out-of-balance carbs can cause all sorts of sounds!
Front brake tends to rub when warmed up.
Apart from the above, I've covered a few miles now, and I think that covers all its ills. So, a lovely-looking bike, perfectly usable and on the road. Stainless exhausts in the original style. Cosmetically very good, but it needs the aforementioned work, in my humble opinion!
Can arrange transport in the UK. I believe it's usually around £150.
Thanks for looking.
