Description
FOR SALE - 2007 BMW K1200GT
About 3-4 months ago I decided to have a complete change in my bikes.
I had two bikes that worked and a third (a little Honda CD185) I bought on a whim off eBay to tinker with.
I sold two of the bikes and part exchanged the third for this BMW which I collected on Christmas Eve.
I was drawn to getting an old classic Brit bike and my heart wanted that but my head said the practical BMW was the way to go. It was but who listens to their head?
So I'm selling the BMW to get me that classic Brit bike.
The BMW itself is fantastic. Looks great and is a pleasure to ride.
It has all the usual goodies : cruise control. electrically adjustable screen. heated rider & pillion seats (rider works. I haven't tried the pillion). heated grips. ASC (Automatic Stability Control). ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment). ABS. Xenon headlight. on-board computer (with oil level. tyre pressures. air temperature etc.). adjustable spring preload for the rear wheel. rider seat height adjustable (two settings). adjustable handlebars etc. A lot of these features were not standard fitment but actually optional extras.
Standard fitment was with panniers but obviously someone has bought a BMW top box (price those up to see how much they spent!) but it is grey. I was simply going to get it painted at a body shop to match.
There are a couple of marks on the panniers. one more visible than the other (see pic) and a black mark on the top box. All minor points and in no way detract from a lovely looking bike. These would be an easy touch up job for the paint shop while they were painting the top box!
The only fly in the ointment : when I bought the bike it had a brake failure warning light on. This flags up when the brake pads wear to about half and the sensor picks this up. The dealer I bought it from changed the front pads (thinking they were at fault) but it turns out to be the back ones. They are having the bike in on Friday (21st Feb) to do them so the bike will have all new brake pads all round :)
The dealer fitted new rear brake pads (Friday 21 Feb) but the brake warning light is still on. It needs to be re-set by a BMW dealer which is being done on Monday or Tuesday (24th or 25th Feb). :)
Seats are unmarked with no splits or tears. The original rider's seat had a scuff on it so I bought these unmarked ones off eBay. You can have the originals if you want them. The replacement rider's seat is actually more comfy than the one I took off and the pillion one is wider so I'm guessing they're more touring orientated than the ones originally fitted.
It has five BMW dealer stamps in the service book up to 17. 65 miles. Serviced by the dealer I bought it off before I collected it. Except for one old MOT. that's all there is but it's certainly been well cared for.
There is a Garmin satnav mount on the bike. I don't have a Garmin and I don't know if it still works. I'm told it suits the Zumo 400 / 450 / 500 / 550 but I don't know this for sure. It certain looks the same as those when I've tried to get one off eBay.
V5C is in my name at my address.
