Description
Here we have my pride and joy. This is Ian Loughers old superbike that was built especially for him and supplied by Slingshot racing for Ian in the 2005 Southern 100 in which he smashed the lap record and won all three races on it.
This bike is absolutely fantastic. it has everything you could possibly imagine on it as you would expect on any top level superbike.
listed below is the full specification of the bike but I'm sure I will miss somethings as there is so much on it !
Front End:
Full works Ohlins FG171 Superbike Forks with magnesium bottoms for lighter weight.
Brembo superbike monoblock calipers with titanium pistons and bolts. Brembo 290mm fully floating discs.
Wide track DBR aluminium deep braced triple clamps.
Harris clip ons housing Brembo hydraulic clutch master cylinder and Brembo 19 x 18 brake master cylinder. both running full braided lines.
Translogic digital race dash
Ohlins steering damper.
One off hand made lightweight aluminium tank. made so could last for two laps of the TT without refueling. ( beautiful work of art )
Engine:
The engine was replaced with a almost new 2006 motor in 2010 but before it was fitted it was given the full works treatment by Slick Bass ( Carl Foggarty's ex mechanic ) he blue printed the engine. replaced what needed replacing. fully gas flowed the cylinder head and skimmed it. fitted Kent Race Cams. fitted Weisco high compression 14:1 pistons. STM slipper clutch. the list goes on. The bike runs a huge carbon fibre ram air system which feeds the throttle bodies via a set of HRC Velocity stacks and DNA individual air filters. It is also running NGK racing surface discharge spark plugs which I have just replaced. The oil and filter have just been changed and the bike has done two laps of Oulton Park since. All this engine work gives the bike a huge power output of 190BHP at the rear wheel. the dyno operator said he could probably get a few more horses out of it as it was running slightly rich for safety reasons. I have Slicks engine build sheet to prove this.
Rear End:
Full aluminium HRC rear subframe housing a lightweight brand new lithium battery ( only weighs 700gm )
Ohlins factory rear shock.
Spondon modified swingarm to accommodate wide track fully captive quick release system. you can change the rear wheel in about 20 seconds as everything stays in place. pull the spindle out. swap wheels and put it back in.
Underslung Brembo superbike race caliper fed by braided line.
Carbon fibre Harris rear hugger.
Frame. Bodywork & Electrics:
The bike runs a standard frame complete with a full set of numbers. I do not have a log book as this bike was built from a brand new frame for Ian but I'm sure if you wanted to you could probably apply for one. The frame houses a full set of carbon fibre protectors.
The bodywork is the original full carbon fibre set that Ian ran in the southern 100 in 2005. this bodywork also ran on a bike that got 4th in the Macau GP in 2006. It is in very very good condition. obviously it has some stone chips etc. but these are nothing serious and all add to making this bike what it is today. The bike also runs a full titanium 60mm Arrow exhaust system and a full deep cored race radiator.
The wiring loom is a HRC loom which incorporates a full HRC ECU. The bike also runs a Dynojet powercommander and Quickshifter.
The bike is running on 16. 5" Marchesini Magnesium wheels which are fitted with brand new Dunlop NTEC slicks. ( Two laps of Oulton Park )
This bike is absolutely fantastic. I can not begin to explain how it handles. literally as if on rails. it is so fast it is scary. I've ridden some fast bikes but this really is too much for me. but luckily the Brembo monoblock brakes do their job and stop it very quickly.
This is a very reluctant sale but unfortunately personal circumstances come first. The bike sits in my house as a show piece so no cold damp garage conditions.
I have spoken to Ian a few times over this bike and he remembered smashing the lap record on it and told me that it was one of the best bikes he has ever ridden. He only got the bike about 3hrs before the race. went out on it and won all 3 races. he says it was that easy to ride fast.
Anyways. I'm sure I've missed somethings off regarding the bike as there is that much on it so if you have any questions please get in touch. I also have more pictures that I can email if required. I have been reliably informed that this bike cost around £80.00 to build so a bargain is to be had.
I also have Ians winners Laurel from the Southern 100 in 2005 to go with the bike to add to the history and show piece factor.
Viewing is highly recommended so please get in touch.
I may be interested in a road bike GSXR. CBR. ZX10. R1 etc. plus cash my way.
