Description
Here's another rare motorcycle. A genuine June 1973 Triumph TR5MX Avenger motorcycle. These bikes were a last ditch attempt for MX bikes using BSA B50 engine and Frame by Triumph. It is in almost original condition with all of the most of the original parts fitted. and a few desireable updates including electronic ignition and user friendly carb. Engine & frame numbers match and are coded for June 1973. Engine runs well but. being a big 500 single needs a kick or three. maybe four. to get it away. but bump starting is easier and less painful. One remarkable thing is that it actually doesn't leak oil. unbelievable but true !
Took it for a blast around a local field back end of last year. as not ridden for quite a while. and it still goes like stink with good clutch action & gear change. Brakes are OK and steering tight so all is well on that front. Frame has been powder coated. Wheel/tyres are good. seat is new. tinwork and side panels all excellent. Tank has been restored to a very high standard and really sets off the bike. A common fault on these and adventurers was that the stops wear down and the forks put lovely dents in the ali tank. I have reinforced the stops to prevent this again. I bought the bike as a non runner as the previous owner had lost interest and finished the restoration to a very high spec.
Perfect for anyone wanting a go in vintage Motocross. possibly could be road registered for trail use. or really anyone wanting a good investment. (nice to even just stand and look at and reminisce. )
Bike is advertised elsewhere. so i reserve the right to end the sale at any time.
Viewings very welcome. not to come and haggle later. therefore sold as seen.
I have gone through it and changed ALL the oils and that is ALL of them. new kick start and gear change rubbers fitted and really can't think of anything else so if you have any questions do please ask away. Only for sale as i am thinning down an oversized collection of bikes and still have a 580 CCM in pristine condition if i decide to ever go off road again. Cash on collection only and not interested in part exchanges.
