Description
This bike was repatriated from the USA in 2012 when I bought it.
It has matching engine and frame numbers and now looks superb as I hope the pictures illustrate. It runs well and sounds wonderful - the mileage shows 19500.
It has had a full nut and bolt strip down and the following has been done:
1) Frame and associated parts have been shot blasted and powder coated.
2) Engine casings have been vapor blasted and the shiny bits polished.
3) Wheels have been stripped and re-chromed. Hubs polished and rebuilt with stainless spokes.
4) Many nuts and bolts have been replaced with stainless.
5) Mechanically the engine has been rebuilt with the crank reground down to -20thou. the bores and pistons had already been re-bored to +20thou and were ok so refitted.
6) A belt drive has replaced the primary drive and nearly all the internal bearings for engine and clutch have been renewed. Clutch rubbers have also been replaced as well as the central drive hub. New swinging arm bushes. New chain and rear sprocket fitted together with 2 new TT100s.
7) Brakes have been refurbished with new discs and master cylinders front and back. New wheel bearings.
8) Front fork down tubes and internal seals have been replaced. New silencers fitted.
9) The carbs have been refurbished with new slides. needles and jets. Ignition coils and leads have also been replaced and it was already fitted with a boyer ignition.
10) Cibie headlight fitted.
I have spent a small fortune as you can see from the list above. I have the bills but have never totaled them up (and I am not going to).
During the restoration I have kept the appearance as original. with the only major change being the primary drive belt. It looks as it was intended to when Triumph built it. One word of warning - when you park up inevitably people of a certain age will come and talk to you about it as I know from experience.
This bike is not perfect - it is 40 years old. There is a broken fin nearside exhaust a rocker box just below the rocker shaft and there is some slight distortion to the barrel fins on the off side. Taxed and Tested till September (no advisories) Please contact me to arrange viewings or I can send better definition photos.
You will find cheaper tridents but they will cost a lot more to get to this condition.
I have put what I believe to be a realistic price to reflect the condition of the bike and some of the work done. You will find cheaper tridents but they will cost a lot more to get to this condition. This bike is complete. ready to ride Taxed and Tested.
Payment can be by cheque (when cleared through bank) or be electronic transfer.
