Description

Up for sale is my much loved BSA Rocket 3. This is a reluctant sale and I'm only selling it because I need to finance spending on an old mill I've recently bought. The bike sounds fantastic. pulls strongly. rides and handles well. It is ready for a summers happy riding.

The bike was exported to the USA in 1969 and spent the following 43 years of its life there until I had it re-imported in December 2012. As a consequence it is in fine condition for its age with good rust free chrome. It is now UK registered with an age related number on the plate. It comes with a BSA Owners Club dating certificate. Current mileage is 15333 miles. MOT and Road Tax are to December 2014. It has sailed through the last two MOTs without issue. It is taxed as a historic vehicle i. e. nil duty. Engine and frame have matching numbers.

On its return to the UK I gave it a full service. All lubricants were changed (engine. gearbox. chaincase and forks) and a new oil filter was fitted. Valve clearances and ignition timing were set up. New Amal 626 Premier carbs were fitted along with K&N high flow cellulose fuel line filters. Also a new air filter was fitted. The engine was compression tested and showed good compression on all three cylinders. Otherwise the engine is untouched and runs with a quiet top end and pulls strongly through the rev range.

The bike came from the states with a disc brake T140 front end fitted. I have replaced the front wheel bearings and overhauled the front braking system with new caliper seals. new steel pipes. rubber hoses and a new Harris stainless steel master cylinder fitted.

The clocks are original with new rubber shocks. glass. rubber seals and bezzels. The ammeter is wired but not mounted and sits snugly behind the headlight.

The paint work is tidy. the tank. side panels and mudguards have been re-sprayed at some time in its past USA life. There are just a few blemishes which have been touched in. but all-in-all the paintwork is very presentable.

Further new parts I have fitted include: Dunlop Roadmaster TT100. inner tubes and rim bands front and rear. new battery. rear footrest rubbers. tacho cable and choke cable.

The two rear frame lugs that mate with the rear grab handle and the bracket that mates with the rear mudguard have been tidily weld repaired due to cracks evident when it was re-imported.

The left hand raygun silencer has a dent underneath probably caused by the centre stand. however I do have a brand new Cambells silencer to replace it if required. Note the bike has no centre stand fitted which is how it came from the states.

Cash on collection or completed bank transfer prior to collection preferred.
