Description
This is a 1980 T140 Bonneville based special. It is. in effect. a take on the 1968 Triumph TR6C "Trophy Special". It is a matching numbers machine. and I am the 3rd owner. The V5C is in my name. and it was MOT'ed last week. and has 6 months Tax. It is a late model bike. which means the later Meriden Triumph engine specification. featuring a better 4-valve oil pump. primary chain adjustments etc. I built the bike about 12 months ago. and literally everything was renewed. refinished or replaced. The engine features a dynamically balanced crankshaft. piston and rod assembly. improved exhaust camshaft and uprated timing side main bearing. The cylinder head was overhauled with new guides. valves etc. and features a twin Mikuni flat slide carburettor kit. The clutch basket is alloy. and plates. springs. chain and tensioner etc. are new. The 5-speed gearbox was checked. bearings replaced and is as new. The bike is fitted with an Electrex-World battery-less ignition and lighting system. which eliminates any issues over battery charging. There are no ignition points to worry about either. the whole unit is contained within the primary chain case. There is a voltage stabiliser to prevent bulb failure. and the whole system is essentially maintenance free. The new (UK manufactured) fuel tank is finished in the 1968 scheme of metallic blue with a central silver stripe. The exhaust system is traditional 1968 specification twin high level system. and features twin straight through silencers. giving a pleasant but not over loud sound. The brakes feature new drilled cast iron discs. new Lockheed alloy calipers. stainless braided Goodridge hoses and "HH" pads. The handlebar controls are modern Triumph units. and the front brake is excellent. The rear brake features the same specification with a new master cylinder. and likewise is very effective. The gear change is on the left. rear brake on the right. so no issues when coming from a modern machine. The footrests are genuine Triumph folding items. which are now as rare as hens teeth. The wheels feature polished hubs. new bearings. stainless spokes and new alloy flangeless rims. The tyres are Continental Escape which give great traction and roadholding - the bike handles really well. The speedometer is a genuine Smith's '68 pattern instrument. and records just over 1000 miles which the rebuilt machine has now done. effectively running it in. and in the process ensuring a good running and leak free motor!Mudguards are new stainless steel items. and the seat is a modified pan. with the foam and cover to 1968 Triumph pattern - it is very comfortable. and has a lock mechanism. together with a couple of helmet holding studs on the frame. The frame and yokes etc. are all freshly powder coated. All in all a Classic machine ready for everyday use. which runs and rides extremely well. My only reason for sale is the usual - too many projects and just not enough space! I have invested a lot of time and effort into this bike. and therefore it is not cheap. so I am looking for offers extremely close to the asking price. I do not really need to sell it. in fact I will probably regret the sale! Please do not. therefore. make silly offers. Usual conditions apply.
