Description
The Yamaha YZF750 was produced from 1993 to 1998 in two forms. the standard R and the single seat SP. Mechanically the SP differed from the R with adjustable swingarm pivot position. 39mm Keihin FCR flatslide carburetors. a lower screen and a single seat. The rear brake is located below the axle not above and is the primary drive.
The gearbox and final drive ratios are different on the SP with the engagement arrangement of gears in the gear box close to 50% stronger. The rear suspension unit was also different and vastly improved for the SP as with the front fork internals. It was the homologation model of the Yamaha YZF750 for the World Superbike Championship before the rules changed to allow 1000cc bikes.
This race prepared ex-British Superbike raced by Nigel Nottingham from 1995-1997. is presented in race colours and has been stored since Nigel moved on to an R7 for 1998.
Unused for 13 years. this bike was then re commissioned in 2011 and raced in the Golden Era Superbike class at Oulton Park with Thundersport and achieved the fastest lap coming from the back of the grid. Purchased by the current vendor from Nigel Nottingham's mechanic in 2012. this would require only fluids to race in Golden Era Series and will soon be eligible for Manx GP.
