2002 Yamaha R1 ex-Team Graves AMA Superbike

The Yamaha YZF-R1. or R1. is Yamaha's answer to an open class sport bike or superbike manufactured since 1998.
The 2002 Model offered a new fuel injection system and the release of the newly developed "Deltabox III" frame. which. with its hydro formed construction. reduced the total number of frame welds improving the frame's rigidity by 30%. The cooling system was redesigned for better performance and compactness and the exhaust system was changed from a 4-into-1 to a new titanium 4-into-2-into-1 design. Cosmetically the rear end of the motorcycle was updated and streamlined with an LED taillight which allowed for very clean rear body lines. this also gave additional after market possibilities. such as to remove the front turn signals and use these front lights as directional or hazard markers while stopped.
Finishing 6th overall in the 2003 AMA Formula extreme superbike championships. with 2003 AMA Supersport champion Jamie Hacking riding. this Yamaha R1 had a best finish of 2nd at Barber motorsports. The current vendor purchased this superbike direct from Chuck Graves at the end of the 2003 season. with Chuck Graves of Graves's motorsport having run the factory Yamaha superbike effort throughout the season. with a build cost of over $85. 000.
When purchased from Graves it was subject to a full engine refresh and we are informed is in stunning condition with a huge specification including. full factory superbike Ohilns forks and rear shock. 16. 5" Marchensini wheels. factory double skin chassis with adjustable headstock and factory Swingarm with adjustable mounts.
Other race specification details include; Billett adjustable Yokes and a box of Billett off sets for the Swingarm. Yoke and headstock with various length linkages for the rear shocks for different track. Full titanium exhaust system with flatslide carbs and a carbon factory Airbox as the rider Jamie Hacking did not like the early fuel injection. A Factory superbike radiator. small lightweight rear calliper. radial clutch and brake master cylinders. Billet rear sets and clipons are also offered with the full specification motor including all factory kit parts producing around 175bhp at the back wheel.
Full carbon fibre body work and factory loom with ignition complete this immensely powerful machine which. is begging to be put back on the track to test any rider.
