Description
For reluctant sale is my 2013 Triumph Explorer 1215 XC. in the rare matte green colour. I'm having a garage clear out and I've got several bikes but only 1 backside. I bought the bike for the weekly commute to London last summer and its been superb. But I now no longer have to ride to London every week so it has just sat in the garage since September after I bought a Norton Commando 961. so the bike has done less that 200 miles since then and I've made the decision to sell. It took me ages to find a green one. as for some reason they are rare. as grey and white ones are easy to get hold of. i'm not sure if it was a limited paint run or something. Gorgeous colour though.
The bike came from Pure Triumph in Wellingboro in June 2014 and has been serviced by them also. I understand it was originally a Triumph demo bike for a magazine for the first year of its life. until I bought it last year. This bike does not require the head and ECU recalls that other bikes have needed. Its still under Triumph warranty.
The bike has 7039 miles on it. comes with 2 new Bridgestone tyres. I didn't like the Metzeler Tourance tyres it had on originally and the Bridgestones are much better. They were put on 200 miles ago.
The engine is the 1215cc triple. which has to be one of the best powerplants there is. There is just an unbelievable amount of power for a big trailie like this. If your used to a BMW GS. this is another world. I know because I traded from a GS to the Explorer. The bike has cruise control. heated grips. foglamps and belly pan as standard.
Triumph panniers are included. there is no topbox. as I think the triumph topbox is possibly the ugliest piece of plastic ever to be put on a bike and I didn't buy it.
The bike has a Satnav mount fitted for a Zumo 660/BMW Navigator 4 which I will leave on. Sat nav head unit is not part of the sale. Triumph Wellingboro also wired in the added auxiliary 12v power point at the rear of the bike for charging phones etc. in panniers (there is one at the front of the tank as standard but the rear 12v socket is an extra option. )
I've also had the bike treated in ACF50 anti corrosion treatment. so it can be ridden in winter if required. although I've never even ridden it in the rain. FYI for £60. the ACF50 treatment is worth its weight in gold as it stops the winter furring of any aluminium on the bike and it really works. All my bikes are done every year now.
I live just North of Cambridge near Ely.
