Description
Due to another project this is the reluctant sale of my Yamaha rd500lc. I've owned this bike since 03/2012. I have the v5 in my name. its taxed (although you cant have that due to new tax law) and mot'd. albeit til April 1st. however I will mot it for the new owner :)
It started life as a Canadian import so steel frame and mph clocks. pretty much the same as a uk bike. It has matching numbers on the log book and both are JYA52X*********** the engine is stamped 51x.
It has 9369 miles on the clock and whilst I cant verify this it does seem right for the bike and comments from the previous keeper who never rode it. I also know I was the first to tax it since being brought into the uk in 94.
Over the last 18 months or so Ive undertaken the following =
Stripped. powdercoated and polished the wheels. rebuilt the brakes with new front discs. fitted BT45's. rebuilt the forks with correct length progressive springs. oil. seals etc. and blanked off the dire anti-dive. Very recent Nitron shock fitted. Genuine Yamaha clutch. genuine Yamaha throttle cables. various seals and bearings as required. Nikon pipes (blasted and powder coated satin with polished cans. runs standard airbox and filter. plugs are spot on.
The bike runs and rides very well. sounds awesome on the pipe. handles very well thanks to the uprated suspension. It has taken me to the isle of man (and round and round and round ) and various bike meets. Its still on the oil pump and I use fully synthetic injector.
The side panels and belly pan are aftermarket items from skidmarks. painted to match the rest. pearl white as per the other panels and are good quality.
Included are the original panels but they require work with repairs and paint. Various other spares as can be seen in the picture. There is also the full set of original exhausts (not pictured. tucked away somewhere). in good condition and complete with cans/ baffles/ heat shields that I will also include. I will not split the spares. bike and parts go together.
The rest of the bodywork has marks and a couple of splits. biggest can be seen in the top fairing right hand side just above the side panel. they are all in original paint though and certainly not the worst I've seen. One key fits all locks. however the ignition switch has been changed due to the key being able to be pulled out when in the on position on the o. e one. The original is included in the spares.
Overall a good condition 500 and not far from standard (if that's your thing) with the spares.
