Description
Original 1998 Ducati 916 SPS Carl Fogarty Replica (Foggy) number 144/202 in fantastic condition! This is a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most collectible modern (ish) Ducatis of today – a sure-fire investment. Ducati made just 202 of these bikes, and mine is number 144. Carl Fogarty was issued number 1, and to commemorate his 3 world titles, he had the registration plate: S3 Fog fitted. I've acquired S3 FGY, and this sells with the bike and is its current registration number.
Mileage: 6787 with full Ducati service history. All original parts in perfect condition to revert back to standard – see picture 11.
Extras:
Please note, all parts fitted are original Ducati Performance or 996R parts – absolutely no junk carbon. The only exception being the brake and clutch levers.
- Dymag magnesium and carbon fibre wheels (seriously rare and desirable) with brand new Michelin Power Plus tyres.
- Original Marchesini wheels have been fully restored and are fitted with brand new Michelin Power 3's.
- Öhlins forks sourced from a Ducati 996R, along with 996R discs, callipers, and headstock.
- All original parts in great condition included.
- Ducati factory slipper clutch.
- Ducati Performance (DP) original carbon fibre side fairings! (Cost over £1500).
- Ducati Performance (DP) carbon headlight surround, DP carbon fairing stay brackets, DP carbon air intake runners (fitted from the factory), DP carbon mirrors, DP clutch cover, DP carbon footrests, and reverse gear pattern shifter, DP carbon sprocket cover.
- Titanium front axle (custom machined, cost a fortune!).
- Lithium battery (weighs just 800g but is way more powerful than a stocker – incredible!).
- New old stock rear sprocket fitted.
- DID Extreme gold chain (new).
- CRG racing levers (not to everyone's taste, but I like their feel).
Original Specification parts specific to the Fogarty Replica:
- Tecnosel foam racing seat. Mine was new old stock before I fitted it, as it had never been used and was still wrapped in original Ducati wrappings.
- Foggy reps also came with a standard seat, which I have.
- Carbon fibre seat/tail unit.
- Titanium and carbon fibre mufflers.
- Titanium conrods, 996cc carbon fibre airbox.
- Moto Cinelli paint job and decals.
- Numbered headstock plaque: 144 of 202 made.
- Certificate of authenticity (beautifully presented aluminium plaque).
- Fogarty cover.
- Racing stand.
Service History:
- All relevant manuals (including specific Fogarty manual!) and full service history booklet and invoices.
- Valve clearances were checked by Ducati approximately 500 miles ago.
- Full service and belts carried out less than 20 miles ago by Woods Ducati in Wales.
I have owned the bike for two years now. During that time, I have only ridden it 3 times. On one occasion, I had a very minor (2 mph) spill outside my driveway on a greasy manhole cover. I basically fell over! This cracked the nearside fairing, headlight fairing, and broke the mirror and put a minor scratch in the tank. (I have the original panels for proof and also photos of the minor damage). This was all repaired professionally by Woods Ducati (the original seller of this bike back in 1998) who repainted the entire bodywork to make sure it was absolutely perfect. They used only Ducati parts and scoured the world over for new old stock parts, including the rare decal kit. I insisted on only the best at any cost! Whilst the bike was there, I had them restore the original wheels as they had a couple of stone chips here and there and had them shod with new tyres. The bike is essentially fully restored, but I want to be honest and not deceive anybody about the minor spill. It is presently on SORN but MOT'd.
My reason for sale is simple – I have been using the bike as a piece of artwork and spend too much time just appreciating its amazing architecture but never ride it. I am 6'3" and am suffering from sciatic nerve problems when I ride this diminutive motorcycle. I now have a Honda CB1300, which is much more suited to my riding, so the Foggy needs to find a new appreciating enthusiast or, as is becoming very popular with 916's, use them as art! There are several in modern art museums. I kid you not! I am possibly looking for a B7 Audi RS4 estate to replace the bike as it's way more family-friendly!
Anyway, feel free to call me to discuss further details, but please only interested parties and not photo hunters. I've two small kids and very little time or patience.
I'm asking £14,995 with everything included and all the original parts. I could revert it back to standard and reduce the price considerably. That could be an option. The bike is located in Cornwall.
