BSA A10 650cc Golden Flash 1961 fitted with a '56 Road Rocket engine

This is my 1961 BSA A10 650cc Golden Flash. Fitted with a '56 Road Rocket engine. I bought this 21 years ago with the intention of making it into a Rocket Gold Star replica. The previous owner told me he had it "professionally" restored at a cost of £3500.00. After getting it back, a relative of his managed to blow the original engine up after an illegal run on the local motorway! The previous owner had the Road Rocket engine fitted as a replacement.

I had the chance of buying a very cheap '66 Lightning a week later, so the Rocket Gold Star replica never happened! The A10 then went into storage. I removed the stand & speedo, which went onto the Lightning.

The fuel tank was drained & sprayed inside with WD-40, also the cylinder bores & the whole bike, before going into dry storage 21 years ago.

Has blue log book, last M.O.T & last tax disc. No reason there should be a problem retaining the original reg number. I have a V765 & V55/5 form which the new owner can fill in to do this.

Last on the road 1977/78.

Needs chain guard, centre stand, also speedo & cable which are missing. Also battery.

Kickstart is loose on shaft. I have supplied a replacement kickstart shaft, which will need to be fitted.

Starts easily but reluctant to rev—needs fettling.

Gear change OK.

Looking at the bike, the nacelle looks like an early A65 one as it has switches on the left-hand side. Also, front forks have double stays with the earlier type mudguard fitted.

Selling bike as a restoration project, also that it is fitted with the more desirable Road Rocket engine.
