BSA B44 MOTOCROSS RUNNING PROJECT

This project started life in 1969 as a BSA B44 Victor Special and has returned from sitting in a barn in California for many years.

The bike is a matching numbers and crankcases bike complete with NOVA cert which is needed if you wanted to register and use on UK roads.

I have started to build as a MX bike to race in pre 65 classic events but have just purchased a B44 Victor GP so this has to go due to lack of time. space and funds!

Engine was stripped and cleaned and i have put back together with new main bearing and new piston rings to get it running again. the big end was good as was the gearbox and all internals. having got it running after years in the barn. the bike is a little smokey and if i was going to finish and race I would probably re-bore/new piston. will need tuning/setting up correctly. other than this the engine is in great condition.

Just ran it up and down road (until chain came off). all gears feel good and pulls my 15st about no problem

Good bits

Frame and engine in great condition. no fin damage. all original minus a few lugs removed from frame.

Nice tank. few minor dinks that will come out if required.

Great front end. Marzocchi forks. Taper head bearings. Grimeca hub. c/w Akront alloy rim. Dunlop tyre.

Rear end. Hagon shocks. QD rear wheel (original chrome rim). Dunlop tyre

Elextrexworld electronic ignition.

Not so good bits

No seat (old seat base included for fittings) picture shows seat that is not included in sale

Frame has been spray painted and is fine for MX but is not show standard.

Will need new a few minor bits to complete. seat. rear mudguard. alloy side panels. shorty exhaust. bits and bobs. (clutch side cover not fitted in photo's but is present)

All in all a great winter project that requires little work to make a lovely MX bike or could be restored back to original or a Green Laner if registered and MOTd.

Cash on collection only. these bikes are starting to go up in price again and this one will make a great bike and can only increase in value.
