Description
Here is one for the ducatista with a a bit of space in the collection or the motorcycle collector in general. As this is a very special bike that converted many a journo and racer from the Jap bikes when released. http://www.motorcyclespecs. co. za/model/ducati/ducati_916sps%2097. htm
It's a 2000 model Ducati 996SPS number 1356. It is a very original bike that has the Carl Fogarty world championship bodywork. It is imaculate in every way and has the very rare added bonus of being signed by "King Carl" himself along with Pierefranchesco Chill and Andrea Dovizioso!
If you don't know about the SP / SPS etc. models that are Ducati's heavily breathed upon homologation models then this may not be the bike for you! It may look like a Ducati 916 ( not a bad place to start. with arguably the best looking motorbike ever built) but is in fact a full on fire breathing race bike for the road. It is dripping in carbon fibre from the factory which saves valuable weight. has the trickest of trick engine internals which include some big old cams and valves ( stop me if I'm being too technical!) with titanium rods. forged Pistons and light weight nitrided flywheel. ( a quick google will give you pages of specs ) Along with large "shower type" injectors. Race bike P8 ECU and factory Termigoni exhausts. ( What a sound!) The forks are world renowned Ohlins that are fully adjustable and are as good as the rumours suggest. Attached to them are upgraded Brembo brakes fitted with the large diameter mounts and fully floating discs. It has the light weight 5 spoke marchsini alloys ( over the heavier 3 spokes fitted to the 916 SPS which also didn't get the Ohlins). It has an adjustable head stock on the frame which will adjust the rake and sharpen up the turn in if you feel the need to set up for your flying lap times! There is an Ohlins steering damper ( fully adjustable). Rear suspension is again Ohlins and fully adjustable along with an adjustable ride height. This particular bike has only done 9500 miles(approx) which is recorded as15600 km's as it has come from a Ducati main dealer in Ettlingen. Germany. Before I collected it. it was given a full service along with the belts renewed which is recorded in the service book. Another nice piece of history with it is the original bill of sale for 40000+ Deutsche Marks.
It is not one of the factory endorsed "Fogy reps" but you would have to look at the limited edition plaque to know and is exactly the same mechanical spec. The biggest benefit over a factory "Fogy rep" is the 10 + grand you will keep in your bank by buying this mint example.
It has all taxes and duty paid in way of a completed NOVA document. It will have a new mot when sold. I can complete all registration paperwork which will make the new buyer the first UK owner ( it has only 2 German owners from new) or you may register it yourself and get the £100 fee reimbursed.
Viewing is welcome by appointment along with any inspection in a dry heated environment. Test ride is possible with full asking price left as deposit( you bin it-you buy it)
There is the option of being supplied with some very rare magnesium marchesini wheels( Ducati factory supplied) that are at present fitted to my SP3. They are open to negotiations on price. ( As is the SP3)
