Description
I am selling this motorcycle for the wife of a friend of mine who recently passed away... He was a bigtime collector who amassed a large collection of British motorcycles over the last 50 years... He specialized in Original paint British stuff, and as the president of the Long Island Chapter of the AMCA here on Long Island we became good friends... I have sold a whole lot of his bikes over the years while he was alive and since his passing have sold a lot more...
This Interceptor was one of the few that He actually restored to original specs, as it was a very worthy original machine when he acquired it...
This is a little about the 67 models from Royal Enfields website Royal Enfield. Series 1A Interceptor The Series 1A Interceptor was introduced in 1967, with two sub models GP7 and TT7. The major change was the introduction of coil ignition, eliminating the magneto. The US models received a new chrome tank, a new seat, instrument mounts, handlebar, and mudguards.[2] All S1A interceptors had twin Mark 1 Amal carburettors. This bike was completely disassembled and all worn bits were replaced with OEM Royal Enfield parts which he hunted for many years to acquire. The gas tank was a NOS One he got out of California, The Speedometer and Tach are NOS and many more of the parts used as well...
He spent 3 years restoring it and when it was completed it was fired and ridden 113 Miles... This is reflected on the Speedo... Once he got it sorted out, The gas was drained from the tank and carburettors, the Engine was fogged and it was placed into the Collection. His collection at the time of this bikes completion was over 25 bikes and this one had a very prominent place on display... He told me that in 50 plus years of collecting he only had 3 restorations in his possession and this was one of them... The other 2, an Ariel Square 4 and Matchless GS80 are in the possession of his children and not for sale...
The 1967 Royal Enfield Interceptor is a very desirable bike in the collecting world so don't let this one pass you by... The balance to be paid by wire transfer, certified bank check or cash in hand. The bike Will not be released until the funds are all clear. I will assist with shipping and the bike can be seen in person by appointment and picked up at my shop in Shirley on Long Island If that helps... Any questions feel free to contact me.
